Derrick, the Derrick I knew struggled with some demons for sure, most of us do to some degree, I’ve always loved the struggling souls, probably because I struggle so much internally myself at times, and I think the ones who grew up struggling the most, the ones who know true pain, can love the hardest, and in the rawest way, (if you have the courage and patience to handle us lol..) The Derrick I knew laughed at every joke I ever told, always wanted to talk whether I was... in a rush or not, he wanted some long ass conversation lol.. He was always getting me to help him with his Olympic lifts and front squats and recording them all for me to critique. Even though I wasn’t too happy about it, he was the one who pulled me off some girl when she tried to hit me on my birthday one year, he wouldn’t let me go as I was thrashing in his arms like a true psychopath. I can’t even count the number of times we’d wake up and he’d have breakfast made. Or he’d pick me up my favorite bang at the store, or decide to mop the floors for me or take Juno (my dog) on a walk. Pretty sure she liked him more than me for a while. He would give me a hug when I swore I was fine and didn’t need one. He could see right through my I’m fine, I don’t need anyone, it’s no big deal act. He was my friend. He was my Roomate. And he was lost way too soon. Hope you found your peace Derrick. I can just see you and Angie up there talkin shit about our little group and what a mess we still are. Like Texas said, you two better be up there raising some hell!
