Throwing, catching, dodging, getting hit by water balloons - this was the scene yesterday at our office in Benicia! Congratulations to VPI for their victory in the side bet during the Charge Cares Water Ballon Blast! They raised $4,902 against VPC’s $3,810, leaving VPC general superintendents Alonso and Ricardo to face 273 balloons. A total of $9,747 was raised by our employees through this fundraiser! Thanks to co-owners Mike and Billy for their support and willingness to fa...ce the firing squad armed with 2,500 water balloons, and for matching the amount raised, bringing us to a total of $19,494. Charge interns are putting the finishing touches on their high-volume water balloon launchers, which will hurl more than 1,000 balloons at our co-owners, Mike Robirds and Billy Kilmer all for good cause! Watch it live on Facebook Live here tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 6) at 5 p.m. Balloons will be launched by hand and through machines engineered and constructed by five summer interns as part of a group challenge, providing them with real-world experience of taking a project fr...om inception to completion. More than $5,000 has been raised through this event so far, thanks in part to a little friendly competition between Charge affiliates Veteran Power Infrastructure and Veteran Pipeline Construction. Money raised will be matched by the company and split between families impacted financially by COVID-19 and five nonprofits working to advance LGBTQ and racial equality.
