For the next two weeks we will only be seeing emergency patients at the office. As providers in the highest risk category, we want to limit the spread of this virus and make sure it stays small. I cemented a 4-unit bridge this morning that was fantastic. I did this bridge as a porcelain-fused-to-metal bridge, which I sometimes feel self conscious about because of all the hype over the wonderful new ceramics. This bridge I am confident in though, because it’s replacing a 3-unit ceramic bridge that only lasted 3 1/2 years before fracturing. There’s a lot to be said for tried and true materials, and especially working with an excellent lab. The patient was skeptical on the esthetics after loving the look of her ceramic bridge, but once she saw the fine porcelain work, all of her fears disappeared. Virtual reality is now a way to reduce the anxiety of getting a procedure done. We have partnered with Relax VR to offer an anti-anxiety treatment that is immersive and relaxing. If that crown or root canal is stressing you out, ask about using VR during your procedure. Additionally, if VR is not your thing, we have other options like Nitrous Oxide. We pride ourselves on being gentle dentists, and our goal is to minimize the stress around getting a restoration.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is coming this Saturday October 26. This is a chance to take back any prescriptions that are unused. Often the exposure that many children get to prescription drugs is from their parents medicine cabinet, which goes overlooked because they are old prescriptions. Dr Alex’s recent trip to half dome!

Last weekend at maker faire, I saw CodyVrosh selling his artwork and books, and knew his book would be perfect for our waiting room! A couple more books were added as well. Check them out next time you’re in the office!

This weekend we were at the Maker Faire in San Mateo, where Dr Vic was showing his various projects. Eli and I helped him manage the crowds and get a bathroom break in every now and then. Towards the end, we were delighted to learn that he had earned an editors choice award! Congratulations! We also saw some amazing and cool things from makers around the Bay Area

Dr Vic was playing banjo and pedal steel last weekend! He mostly plays the pedal steel, but Diane (our hygienist) captured this video of him playing banjo
