And our AthleteS of the Month are... Theresa and Bo Mavity! Each month we pick an athlete who has shown some sort of dedication, respect, hard work, or just an overall positive attitude. ... Every athlete who wins the coveted Athlete of the Month gets a $50.00 Reebok gift card, a free one month membership they can give to a friend and an interview that we will post online. For the 5th charity in our 12 Coaches Of Christmas, Coach Sarah Myers has chosen The Solano SPCA. The Solano SPCA is a privately funded, non-profit animal shelter founded in 1974. They are dedicated to finding loving, responsible homes for adoptable animals in Solano County. In the Words of Coach Sarah:... Animals hold a special place in my heart. Their innocence and ability to love and trust despite their circumstances is truly remarkable. The Solano SPCA helps with adoption services, low cost vaccinations, and even provides a pet loss support group for members of Solano county. I am proud to say that three out of our four animals were adopted from Solano County Animal Care, a local chapter of Solano SPCA! Since my husband told me I can not adopt all the animals (haha) it warms my heart to donate in any way- whether it’s toys, food, time, or monetary funds. I want to help innocent animals get the life and home they deserve." Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and first responders, as well as explosive-detection canines for law enforcement. In the words of Coach Melissa: I have chosen Puppies Behind Bars because I love animals and believe this organization gives back to all people involved. They teach inmates how to train service dogs not only for explosive ordnance detection, but to help wounded veterans and first responders as well. I... think my love for people and animals shows why the Puppies Behind Bars organization is important.
