E-commerce is up fifty percent in a year where the increase was only predicted to be 16%, which was still a super increase when predicted. https://okt.to/freSZ9 #cfiperishables #ecommerce #logistics #LogisticsAutomation #logisticssolutions
CFI’s Culture of Caring: Part 3. The world is still a long way from back to normal and there’s little doubt even our best laid plans will need to be adjusted, readjusted, and occasionally completely scrapped and reinvented; investing in a strong, informed staff of people who feel empowered, safe, and dedicated to being a significant link in the plan to securely respond to the COVID pandemic is a long-term strategy to continue building the greatest team in perishables shipping. https://okt.to/Vu6HBO #cfiperishables #operations #COVIDsafe #logistics #planning
The second part of our series on CFI’s Culture of Caring is especially timely as tropical storms and hurricanes cause offices to shut-down or prepare for shut-down in advance of landfalls in both Texas and Hawaii. https://okt.to/rdahRH #cfiperishables #tropicalstorm #StormEmma #logistics
If we’ve learned nothing else during this time, we’re very aware of how important our co-workers, family, and friends are to staying happy and healthy around the world. For CFI, our team is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We understand that how we take care of each other reflects the values and integrity of our organization. https://okt.to/8lYERe #cfiperishables #disinfectant #COVIDsafe #logistics #cleaning
Commodity Forwarders Inc. was very proud to have had the opportunity to partner with United Airlines on a number of charters in support of the USDA's COVID Food Assistance Program. Working with our customer and UA, we shipped 190,000 pounds of cargo in 10 pound boxes that were distributed to food banks throughout Guam.
CFI's Senior Vice President of Perishables North America Chris Connell was recently featured and quoted extensively by reporter Ian Putzger in an article about what has been happening in the perishable air freight market in The Loadstar.
Hurricane Douglas continues tracking towards the Hawaiian Islands. As of 05:00 HST this morning there are Tropical Storm Watches and Warnings as well as Hurricane Watches. Commodity Forwarders continues to monitor the situation and the impact on flights and marine traffic between the Islands and the US West Coast as well as inter island air and barge service. We encourage our Hawaiian customers and partners to continue monitoring local sources for the current storm track and... impacts. Based on current forecast models, the storm should pass over the islands and be clear by Monday. If there are any lasting impacts from damage or closure at any of our facilities, we will post them here.
The world of seafood is changing and blockchain will be a part of it. One of the biggest concerns that shippers have is in the transportation model where perishables are prone to warm up. With five offices in Hawaii, Commodity Forwarders Inc. is monitoring Tropical Storm Douglas as it threatens the Hawaiian Islands. We will notify our customers if it appears that air and sea cargo will be delayed and we encourage everyone to continue monitoring the storm's track.
Wishing you and yours a Happy July 4th! Please stay safe out there!
Our SVP, Perishables North America Chris Connell shared this with the CFI family on Juneteenth last Friday and we wanted to share it with all of you.
Rates for cargo are not yet returning to the pre-pandemic levels, but they’ve started to slow down. The big news is the reversed direction of the China to Europe price, seeing its first negative move since 17 February! The events of the past few weeks that began in Minneapolis have given us all pause to stop and reflect. CFI’s founder Alfred Kuehlewind built not just a business, but a family - first here in Southern California, then Hawaii and throughout the United States. We have members of that family who are both hurting and looking at the protests happening around the country, the conversations that are now starting to be had. CFI’s family has always been one of inclusion where we listen and treat one another with respect. This was Alfred’s vision when he opened our doors and remains true to this day. We are committed to both remaining active and engaged listeners internally and advocates for equality as well as protecting the rights of all people.
