Meet student Spotlight Jacquelyn Silverbush! Jacquelyn is a fourth-year math major with a teaching concentration and a statistics minor! This is Jacquelyn’s second quarter participating in TeAMS and here is what she has to say about her experience, I began participating in TeAMS when it was virtual so it has been quite a unique experience. Although it is sometimes challenging to work with students in this virtual setting, it has also proved to be very rewarding and eye ope...ning. I love getting to know the students I work with and also seeing how versatile and committed the teachers are. From this, I have been able to take away some more teaching strategies and an added passion in pursuing teaching myself. I believe anyone can benefit from these programs, whether you want to teach or just want more experience working with others. It’s a great way to represent Cal Poly and help out with local schools, especially during these challenging times. Everyone involved is really supportive and welcoming so don’t hesitate to reach out to someone and ask questions!

Meet student Spotlight Mav Lara! Mav is a second-year math major and is trying to decide between concentrating in just math or math education which is why she decided to participate in TeAMS! Here is what she has to say about her experience, Teaching is very fun for me. It's great to see my students learn and improve. It can be a bit frustrating or tedious at times, but it's definitely worth being patient just to see them succeed. I've learned from my experience that communi...cation and asking for help is needed for success. It's really hard to help students if they don't talk about what they need help with. But at the same time, students are often a lot better at a subject than they admit, and insecurities only stop people from improving and recognizing their own skills. If you want to join, just go for it! Hours are really flexible, and it's a good work experience. Plus, it's just fun. If you're interested in teaching at all, try it out. See more
