An inexperienced caregiver's lack of knowledge, skills and confidence can lead to ineffective care for their loved one. This is particularly true if their loved one suffers from chronic conditions and has problems with memory, hearing, vision or mobility.
Knowledge is power. Understand what to expect with your loved one, and how to handle difficult situations before they occur. Learn about the Ceresti education program at: http://www.ceresti.com

Is exercise important for you and your loved one? The answer is a big, YES! Not only will it improve your health, but it can be something you can do together. Try going for a walk outside or doing some seated stretches.
Having support as a caregiver matters. You are not alone. Attending a local support group or even keeping a diary can help you sort through your thoughts and emotions on your own caregiving journey.
Exercise is a powerful tool for you as a caregiver. Besides improving your own health, it is a great stress reliever and even an escape from a hectic day.
Changing your perspective on caregiving can be eye-opening. "It is up to me to change because my loved one no longer can". It's better to be flexible and adapt to your loved one in an effort to reduce conflict.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Friends & family are willing to help, but sometimes they just don't know how. The burden of caregiving is too much for one person but if you share it with your care team, you'll be able to go much further.
Exercise can be a stress reliever and maintaining good physical health allows you to care for your loved one with dementia for longer. It can also be a valuable group activity that you can do with your loved one.
Attending support groups can be a form of respite and allows you to share and vent your frustrations to others who understand what you are going through.
Ceresti encourages caregivers to reach out to family & friends for help to avoid caregiver burnout. Our Ceresti Connect phone app is one way to ask for help from members of your care team, even if they're not local.
Our Coaches will help caregivers find local resources/support groups so they can find the help and knowledge they need. Learn more about what our Ceresti Coaches can do at: https://www.ceresti.com/
Meditation is a great way to relax, release the stress of the day away and allows you to focus on yourself. Avoiding caregiver burnout is good for mental health and ultimately positive for your loved one that you are caring for.
Dementia support groups are a great way to connect with other caregivers that are going through similar experiences. Discussing and sharing caregiving strategies with others may be fruitful for yourself.
Ceresti Coaches are dedicated to their jobs and never give up on families. As long as the caregiver is willing, Coaches will support them on their dementia caregiving journey.
Ceresti Coaches are here to help and support you, the caregiver. Whether it's for advice on how to handle a new behavior or just to vent your frustrations, the Coaches will offer advice while being comforting and supporting.
ADRCs (Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers) offer help with obtaining a diagnosis as well as information about dementia, best practices for medical management, services, and resources.
Having a good caregiver to care for your loved one with dementia makes all the difference. Sometimes it's hired help or a family member/friend that has to step up.
