"Bring this to your brother." "Help me with the dishes." "Please be kind." Do you ever wonder if your kids are hearing anything you say? They are! They're also observing adults around them, setting good examples. After teaching about Jesus serving others, and washing the disciples' feet, Mrs. Lyzenga had them put pen to paper this week, asking them to write friendly letters to a person in their lives that follows the example of Christ. --- "Dear Mr. Neese, I really like... having you as my principal. I like it when you watch us play Gaga ball. You are a really fun principal to have around. You didn't have to make the tickets for lunch, but you did. I think you show the fruit of the spirit of Joy. You are always smiling and never stop, but I like it. I see Christ-like actions when you come to us while we are playing and sometimes even play with us. I really look up to you and think you're awesome! I am so glad you're my principal. From, Presley." "Dear Mr. Baker, I see Christ in your heart when you wait for all the busses to leave. And you also wait in the morning. You always say good morning or good afternoon. Or when you're always nice to everyone. You're never mean. When you're nice to anyone they always become happier. Next, you didn't have to play at recess with us but you did. I like when you taught us how to play 4 square or when you played gaga ball. Mr. Richardson's class used a Geiger counter to measure relative radioactivity of various radioactive metals. Fun fact: Bananas are rich in potassium (chemical symbol K), and a very small fraction of that naturally-occurring potassium is in fact radioactive about one-hundredth of one percent (actually 120 parts per million)! Still delicious though. Wondering how a Geiger counter works or why it clicks?... Every time a radioactive atom breaks down, knocking off nearby electrons, this builds up enough charge to create a pulse and therefore a click on the detector. Each click indicates a single atom has decayed, and so more clicking means more atoms and therefore, more radiation. #themoreyouknow #cvchs See more

#30daysofthankfulness Day 5: Mr. Baker is thankful for our transportation department, including Beth! We love our buses and bus drivers and all the work it takes to get our kiddos to and from CVC! You are the first (and last) CVC face our kiddos see each schoolday and it makes a big difference! #cvcfamily

After learning about natural resources and the different continents, the 3rd grade traveled the world to make a chocolate cake. They researched countries that produce each ingredient, measured and mixed our ingredients, and then we ate cake! Yum!
