Happy Galentine's Day! Yesterday we celebrated participants with morning of togetherness for Galentine's Day! Thank you to our community who came together to make sure every person who attended had a beautiful day. To @hollywoodfoodco... for the fantastic lunches and treats, @erincc2la and her pre-schoolers for the beautiful cards made with so muchove and for the journals, glasses, new undergarments. Thank you to Atsuko for the new underwear and Alison for the magnificent beauty products that made for a five star goody bag, and Bella (?) a surprise visitor who dropped off treats and more gorgeous valentines. And thank you to our staff and volunteer, Mackenzie, who decorated and ran a fantastic, socially distanced event. Every Friday is Women's Day at The Center and a time to create a safe space for anyone who identifies as female. We look forward to welcoming more participants in who seek a welcoming space to be themselves. #galentines #galentinesday #valentines #valeninte #valentinesday #celebratewomen #celebratelgbtq #beautiful #nailpolish #food #raffle #hollywood #safespace

We honor Black History Month to amplify awareness of the struggle for freedom and equal opportunity, and to celebrate all that the Black community contributes to the world. While one month is not enough, it creates a space and dedicated time for all of us to recognize the struggles, injustices, strides, and influence of our Black community members. Check out the LA Department of Cultural Affairs for access to events, art exhibits, discussions and more across the city. Many ar...e free and ongoing! https://culturela.org//ca/african-american-heritage-month/ #CelebrateBlackHistoryMonth #LearnAboutBlackHistory #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory #Grow #Honor #BlackHistoryIsEveryday

#ThankfulThursday It's a new day, a new Dawn! Our Recovery Rehousing team is starting off the New Year fast and furious! They have been working hard to move guests from Project Roomkey into permanent housing as quickly as possible. Dawn is one guest we've worked with who has successfully traded in her Project Roomkey hotel card, for a set of keys to her own home. Congratulations to Dawn, and Diana and the entire team that helped make this possible. Welcome home, Dawn! W...hat a way to start off 2021. We are so thankful for Dawn, our team, and our supporters who help make this happen! #Thanksful #Thursday #MoveIn #MovingDay #Center #TheCenter #Congratulations #Keys #Home #HomelessnessEnded #EndHomelessness #Hollywood #LetsDoThis #HousingFirst #ThankYou #Dawn See more

#Repost @culture_la Los Angeles, California Today we join the country in honoring #IndigenousPeoplesDay to celebrate the cultures and contributions of Indigenous peoples, and acknowledge and work to uplift these communities.... For meaningful ways to participate in the celebration @SmithsonianNMAI has 5 ideas you can do from home: https://www.smithsonianmag.com//indigenous-peoples-day-20/
Los Angeles celebrates Indigenous Peoples Day! While we take the day to celebrate Indigenous cultures, we must also work to ensure an equitable future for everyone. We must remember the past and work to protect people's futures. "Pacific Islanders and Native Americans are most likely to be homeless in America when compared to all other racial/ethnic groups. Within the former, 160 people experience homelessness out of every 10,000 compared to the national average of 17 out of... every 10,000. Pacific Islanders and Native Americans are numerically small groups within the U.S., making it more difficult for the U.S. Census Bureau and homelessness services systems to count them accurately. Nevertheless, available data suggest they face significant challenges." #indigenouspeoplesday #endhomelessness #HousingForAll https://endhomelessness.org//h/state-of-homelessness-2020/

Happy National Coming Out Day! To our staff, our participants, our community, we hope you feel you have a safe, welcoming, and joyful space with us at The Center where you can be your authentic self. We hope for anyone coming out that today it is a celebration of your truth and that you may love whomever you decide to love with the support you need and wish for. October is LGBTQ history month, so National Coming Out Day is a day to reflect on the anniversary of the National M...arch on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights on October 14, 1979. On that day LGTBQ and straight allies marched side by side demanding equal civil rights. For anyone who is on this journey and is homeless, we are here. We support you. We honor who you are and who you want to be. For anyone, housed or unhoused, as you come out or if you are a family or friend who wants to support your loved ones who are coming out, check out https://buff.ly/3dbIoMO. #NationalComingOutDay #ComingOutDay #ComingOut #LGBTQSupport #SafeSpace #LGBTQHomelessness #FindYourCenter #BeAnAlly
Today is World Homelessness Day - ten years of a global discussion around homelessness, how to prevent the crisis and help end it. Peter is one of our extremely engaged Wellness Program participants. We appreciate Peter and that he feels he has a safe and supportive space with us while we work together on his journey to permanent housing. We can always use your support to make sure Wellness Programs are here for participants like Peter. Grants do not currently cover th...ese programs at The Center and so we rely on the generosity and foresight of supporters like you to ensure a safe space for people. $5 to $500, every dollar helps us reach more people with programs and services. THANK YOU for all you do to support solutions to end isolation and homelessness! #EndHomelessness #WorldHomelessnessDay #Isolation #BuildCommunity #Community #Hollywood See more
Join now, the Homelessness and Poverty Committee is meeting. We would love to hear comments in support of opening the Cole Recreation Center Item #13. A building sits empty while we have people sleeping unsheltered on our streets in Hollywood. You can make a public comment now. Providing shelter means we can support people's health and well-being while making connections to services and housing. https://cityclerk.lacity.org/councilagenda/MeetingView.aspx
