In our latest Q&A with psychologist Dr. Bahareh Talei from Diagnostic and Counseling Center, Dr. Talei discusses how to handle conflict from the coronavirus pan...demic with family and friends. Whether it be various viewpoints on safety protocols like social distancing or different opinions on the pandemic itself, Dr. Talei explains how to handle conflict in order to maintain harmony with friends and family during the pandemic. Dr. Talei goes into depth as she discusses why certain people are resistant to social distancing, how to communicate your reasoning for adhering to social distancing, how to peacefully discuss differences with those who do not adhere to social distancing, and what to do when you can not agree with your friends and family on how to best handle the pandemic. Dr. Talei received her Doctorate of Psychology from Pepperdine University, Graduate School of Education and Psychology. She has primarily worked with children and adolescents with various disabilities such as autism and difficulties with learning and attention. She also has experience treating individuals and their families who are struggling with substance abuse. The Diagnostic & Counseling Center is now offering teen groups! Between school closures, COVID, and civil unrest across the nation, teens can left feeling isolated, anxious, and fearful. These therapist-led groups allow teens to discuss and process through these emotions among their peers. We are currently offering two free sessions for those interested in these groups.
