This week, California Gov. Gavin Newson signed Assembly Bill 3088, passed by the California Legislature, which creates a statewide eviction moratorium. The COVID-19 Tenant Relief Act of 2020 provides new protections from eviction for residents, including prohibitions from evicting a resident who has failed to make specified rental payment when certain requirements are met because of COVID-19-related financial distress.
