Home away from home. The Doug-Out is a two-bedroom house, at just a short walking distance from Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, that provides a home for parents to stay while their child is receiving treatment at no cost to them. The home was opened in 1981 and was named in remembrance of Doug York, a 13 year-old boy who lost his battle to cancer in 1982. This program of @ccfsocal relieves some of the financial and transportation stress of long term hospitalization our pare...nts face during their child's treatment. A caretaker, who lives on property behind the Doug-Out, is available at all times in order to provide the best hospitality possible for current house guests. Through programs like the Doug-Out we see a continual impact in the lives of children diagnosed with cancer, their parents, siblings and the community. Services available at the Doug-Out: Overnight Accomodations Shower Facilities Kitchen & Stocked Pantry Laundry Facility The Doug-Out is made possible through generous financial and in-kind donations of sponsors. Thank you to our friends at Craig & Sons Craig & Sons Termite & Pest Control, Inc and Pride Plumbing @pride_plumbing_services for their generous support of the Doug-Out.
