Contra Costa Fair Livestock 03.11.2020

Fairgrounds are often the heartbeats of our communities, acting as a gathering place in good times and in times of crisis, and generating more than $3.5 billion... in economic impact. However, Fairgrounds are funded solely by the revenue that they generate from the annual fair, and other large scale events, which are now prohibited due to COVID-19. Many Fairgrounds are now facing an uncertain future. We need Emergency Funding in the new package of Federal economic relief. Without support, many Fairs will close and their communities they serve will suffer. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO PROTECT OUR CALIFORNIA FAIRS! *Shared the Video & Spread the Message *Tag Your Elected Officials & Share the Video *Click Thru to Our Website https://callingallcommunities.org/ to learn more about how to send a letter to Congress and reach out to our elected officials *Reach out to your local Fairgrounds to find out how you can help #callingourcommunities #californiafairs #WFAHeretoHelp #takeactionnow #saveourfairgrounds #CAleg House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Kevin McCarthy Senator Mitch McConnell Senator Chuck Schumer Senator Dianne Feinstein U.S. Senator Kamala Harris

_____________________________________________________________________________________ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Joe Brengle, CEO Contra Costa County Event Park (925) 757-4400 [email protected] ... 2020 Contra Costa County Fair Canceled ANTIOCH As a major event facility, The Contra Costa Event Park has been monitoring the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. There is no higher priority than the safety of our Fairgrounds family, patrons, vendors, promoters and sponsors at the Contra Costa Event Park. Due to this ongoing situation the Contra Costa Event Park Board of Directors met last night and unanimously voted to cancel the 2020 Contra Costa County Fair scheduled for May 14 17. The Fair Board realizes that the individual’s most affected by this cancellation is the youth livestock exhibitors of our county. The Fair Board did approve to let a committee of Contra Costa County 4H and FFA parents work on a Youth Fair where these youth livestock exhibitors could show and auction their animals. The Fair Board agreed to provide support to this committee as needed. If the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Contra Costa County Health Department, or the Governor of California lengthen the current restrictions and orders, it is possible that a Youth Fair will not take place. At this time dates for Youth Fair are yet to be determined. We thank the community for your continued support during these challenging times. Mark your calendars for the 2021 Contra Costa County Fair May 13 16. #### 1201 West 10th Street, Antioch, CA 94509 (925) 757 - 4400 www.contracostafair.com
