Let’s get creative together! We will gather on Zoom for a virtual painting class. Together, we'll paint a beautiful Fall tree to decorate our Thanksgiving tables, or any room in our homes. ORDER YOUR KITS BY THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5 at https://www.cbe.org/event/family-canvas-crafternoon.html. Rabbi Shulman will share insights from Jewish tradition about trees as nature enters into autumn slumber. Just as you came and found trees planted by others, teaches the Midrash, you must plant for your children. Trees symbolize generational renewal and the blessings of this world for which we give thanks in our annual season of thanksgiving. An artist from Art Beat San Diego will lead our session and will cater the program to artists of all ages. Paint kits will be delivered to your homes prior to the event.

Whether it be online or in person, school will shortly be in session. Many children in San Diego will begin the school year without necessary school supplies. Help us make a difference to them and their families. We will be collecting school supplies in collaboration with Western Service Workers Association - an organization serving San Diego's working poor. Since our campus is closed for collections this year, we have created a Target registry based on the needs provided to us by Western Service Workers Association. To donate please visit https://www.cbe.org/event/tikkun-back-to-school-drive.html. We will also be accepting financial contributions. For more information, please contact [email protected].

We will observe Tisha B’Av on Zoom with prayer and reflection on Wednesday evening July 29, 2020 at 8:30 p.m. During the Evening Service for Tisha B’Av we recite the Bible’s Book of Lamentations, Eikhah. We will also consider the meanings of this occasion for today. On the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av we recall tragic events in Jewish history whose legacy have shaped our identity and values. Tisha B’Av is a full or partial day of fasting and introspection observed with emotion as we transform trauma into wisdom through ritual and conversation. For Zoom details, please go to https://www.cbe.org//observing-tisha-bav---the-ninth-of-av.
