Meet Dr. Terry Larson, PT, DPT The New Program Director of our Physical Therapist Assistant Program!!! Dr. Larson holds a Bachelors Degree in Dance and a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of South Florida. She also holds a Doctorate Degree from the University of St. Augustine in Physical Therapy.... Dr. Larson has served as a Physical Therapist in the Tampa Bay community for 17 years. She has served as a PT in various medical facilities and has worked as a Director of Clinical Education and higher education instructor. Before teaching, Dr. Larson specialized in pelvic floor physical therapy and outpatient orthopedics. Dr. Larson is a member of the Education Section, the Women's Health Section, and the American Physical Therapy Association's Orthopedic Section. She also volunteers as an Item Writer for the Federation of the State Boards of Physical Therapy. Here is a message from Dr. Larson: Hi, my name is Dr. Larson, and I am excited to be the new Program Director for the PTA Program at CBD College. I have been teaching at the PTA level for six years and have a real passion for seeing my students succeed after graduation. I have been a physical therapist for 17 years and have worked in various settings with a specialty in pelvic floor and musculoskeletal conditions. I've always had the passion of teaching, after I received my Bachelor degree in Accounting, I immediately started to teach French for 5 years. After I had my 2 kids I stopped for a while and then went back to teaching in a totally different career as an Etiquette instructor in a private institute until my family a...nd I moved in to the United States in September 2012. 2. What specifically is your role here at CBD College? I am a DMS teacher assistant, my role is to be hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder with the students in their lab days, also, I am the one who instructs the Test Preparation Class, which prepares them to take their ARDMS exam as well as take their license in Abdomen. 3. When did you start working at CBD College? I started immediately after I graduated from CBD in July 2017. 4. Before working at CBD College, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? When I first moved here with my family, I had to help my husband to put food on the table so I worked as a cashier at Mcdonald's. 5. Who is your greatest inspiration or mentor? My mom and my younger sister, they are the strongest and most powerful women I have ever met. 6. What do you find most inspiring or fulfilling about your job? You Know just seeing my students succeed and achieve their dreams and seeing the impact and the change they have made in their lives it is truly the most inspiring thing. 7. Do you have any advice for potential students interested in pursuing a career as a healthcare professional? Today we are taking a moment to honor the life of OTA alumni Ruben Saenz. Sadly, just last month Ruben lost his battle with cancer. We would like to share a few words with you from his sister, Yesenia. As Ruben's sister I would love to thank all of you for the outpouring of support. Your kindness toward our family has been so welcome in these difficult times. Ruben loved his career. He genuinely enjoyed helping people and becoming an OTA was one of his greatest life accomp...lishments. His time at CBD was the most rewarding time in his life as well as the most difficult. It was then that he was diagnosed with stage 3/4 colon cancer, but instead of giving up he continued his time at CBD. He went to chemo treatments every morning and went directly to his clinical site after. His time at CBD was successful because of his sheer will and determination. He never once gave up. He graduated, passed his exam, and found a great place to call his professional home. His willingness to continue and better himself, and those around him, was evident and unwavering. He was extremely vocal and passionate about making others realize their potential and that everything was possible if they wanted it bad enough. So, If I can leave you all with a few words, they would be my brother’s words, "If I can, you can". Happy OTA week and on behalf of the entire Saenz family we thank you. See more
