To become the kind of believer who can say the things found in these verses today requires the right perspective. It takes trust in God and security in Heaven. It takes deciding to accept the pain and persecution rather than resent it because it'll bring you closer to God.

The Lord poured out His blessings on the Israelites when they turned back to Him in repentance and obedience. The same is true for us today. Obey the Lord by reading His Word, praying, loving others, and sharing His truth with others.

In today's passage, we see a lot of examples of what a child of God should look like. Forgiving all people, being patient, showing compassion, thinking about others more than ourselves--these seem like challenging tasks. Remember what God did for you. The Holy Spirit will help you live a life that pleases Him.

We are justified, or made right with God, only by faith (verse 8). If we rely on the Law or good works, we are doomed! We cannot earn God's forgiveness. Simply say "yes" to what Jesus did for you on the cross and you are forgiven!

Abraham had many reasons to doubt God's promise to provide him a child. Abraham was about 100 years old! But his faith was not shaken. God saw Abraham's firm faith, and He blessed him. God has promised to love you, forgive your sins, and provide for you a place in Heaven with Him. Satan will try to get you to doubt the trustworthiness of God, but follow Abraham's example and believe God without a doubt.

Our absolute God will always rule, always be righteous, and always love you. Take comfort in this truth.

As we read Scripture, we should ask God to help us learn from Him. When we sincerely seek His truth, God promises we will find it.

All of God's truth is good for us and leads us to blessing. God tells us to think on it every morning and night.
