These trying times have affected individuals and families unequally. This month of January is Poverty Awareness Month and we want to remind everyone of the beautiful work that we continue to do every day to support in shrinking the number of people living in poverty in our communities. #PovertyAwarenessMonth #PovertyAwareness Together we are stronger when we support our neighbors in the greatest of need.

UPDATED: Here are our updated Rural Outreach Distribution Dates.. Friendly Reminder that we have one today! Our Rural Outreach Program continues to be vital in our communities that are in most need. Prior to COVID-19 in a month we would be going out to a rural community twice, but these upcoming two months we have more than 4. We will be serving families living in the locations listed on the flyer. The need continues to be great with a 74% increase in food services since the ...effects of COVID-19 began to impact our community! In addition to providing food and clothing services at our site on Fulton Street and this is why we've also ramped up our efforts in rural communities throughout the Valley. Please share and tag this flyer w/ people who you believe may benefit from these Rural Outreach events.

Catholic Charities Diocese of Fresno is a Community Benefit Organization serving the needs of those in crisis with sites in Fresno, Merced and Bakersfield. We are the first responders in helping our neighbors with food, clothing and other basic necessities regardless of age, background, race or beliefs. Did you know that only 5.6% of those we serve here at @ccharities are homeless! That tells us that 94.4% are families facing a difficult time due to many different factors and... the pandemic being one of the major reasons why families visit us each day. When a homeless person does visit our site we make sure they are given a hygiene bag, food to meet their needs, water and of course smiles and positivity! Families who are experiencing difficult economic times can come to @ccharities to ease the burden of caring for their families as we lend a helping hand. #helpinghand #helpingothers #helpingour #helpingourneighbors #catholiccharities #fresnoca #fresnocalifornia

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS! Here at Catholic Charities, we are an essential business and are committed to continue serving families who have been severely affected by the financial impact of COVID-19. As we still continue to see an increase in our food services, we are in great need of volunteers to help us fulfill our mission and change the lives of our neighbors in crisis. ... We have an immediate need for help in building our food bags in our Food Pantry that are distributed daily, sorting donations of clothing that are brought to our site for those in need, as well as assisting clients as they walk in through our doors in our Intake department. All service opportunities respect social distancing and we have taken several precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of our staff and volunteers as our number one priority. To learn more about how you can safely volunteer and make a real impact for those in need, please fill out a Volunteer Application on our website https://ccdof.org/volunteer-fresno/ or call (559) 237-0851 and ask to speak to our Volunteer Coordinator, Virginia Mendoza. #catholiccharities #caridadescatolicas #volunteers #volunteersrock

When you look into the eyes of a man who appears to have lost all hope as his three small children cling to his leg, it's impossible to know his pain in that moment. He stood out in the cold in his short sleeve shirt as we handed him a new coat. He immediately put it on and said "this is what warmth feels like." They looked at the box overflowing with food as if it were a treasure chest. The boxes of Macaroni and Cheese were the gold for his developmentally disabled child w...ith food texture sensory disorders. After delivering new coats, food for at least a week, and new toys for each of the children, I was preparing to drive back to our brick and mortar site when I said "Have a Merry Christmas" to the single dad working so hard to survive. I'll never forget his response as he said with tears in his eyes... "We will now." This single dad is just one of 200,000 people that you helped make a difference for this year throughout the 8-county Diocese of Fresno. He's also one of more than 15,000 new clients served this year who never had to seek out our help before. Because of you, Catholic Charities is a beacon of hope for so many vulnerable families. There's a unique, human connectivity that exists here; it's deep, meaningful and personal to all that cross our path. We're grateful for your generosity that continues to assist our neighbors in crisis. Thank you for your consideration in making a tax-deductible end of the year gift that allows us to keep impacting the lives of others. Every dollar you give makes a difference. Thank you for helping us serve those in the greatest of need. May your New Year be filled with joy, peace and God's blessings. Our 2020 Christmas Wish List: For our community... A wish for greater compassion and relief for our neighbors who are suffering. ... For our Country... A wish that all people would enjoy the liberties and freedom this great country provides. For our Military... A wish for protection over the men and women who courageously serve. That they may return home safely to their families. For the World... A wish to those who suffer from illness and disease, war, injustice and intolerance. We pray for world peace. For our Religious Sisters... That you would be strengthened as you continue to hold the world up in prayer and serve those in need. For our Priests... That you would have time for personal prayer and reflection and feel an abundance of love and gratitude from our parish communities. For Bishop Joe... That you would continue to be granted a spirit of courage, right judgement, knowledge and deep love. For our Volunteers... That you would be protected while you continue to perform beautiful and selfless acts of service. For our Donors... That you would feel the deep gratitude for the lives of those you impact through your financial and prayerful support. That peace may reign in your hearts and the hearts of your loved ones during this Christmas season and always. Over the last year, Catholic Charities has grown and expanded into an organization that so many desperately depend on for survival. From diapers and rental assistance, to bottled water and keeping the PG&E turned on, to new beds for children and food on the table... Catholic Charities is an organization of HOPE. Thank you for your never ending support of Catholic Charities. I wish you a Christmas season full of hope and days full of love and peace. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. Jeff Negrete Executive Director Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fresno

We had our last Healthy Neighborhood Market for the year today and one thing we noticed is that sadly the need in our communities only continues to grow. This event was a testament to our commitment to serving our community because we saw miracles take place every single minute. To everyone who came to our event today thank you for stopping by during this cold winter morning! God Bless all of you! #food4all #mealboxes #christmas2020 #fresnoca #fresnocalifornia #catholiccharities

Even more important than the warmth and affection we receive, is the warmth and affection we give. It is by giving warmth and affection, by having a genuine sense of concern for others, in other words through compassion, that we gain the conditions for genuine happiness. More important than being loved, therefore, is to love. -Dalai Lama Seeing children smile today after receiving these cozy and beautiful jackets was priceless! We love seeing children smile!!!
