The Chamber and the City teamed up to support local businesses by passing out much needed PPE. Over 20 businesses came to collect supplies this morning. Please be sure to check our website and newsletter for our next locations, dates and times for more distribution of PPE. Thank you Coachella Valley Economic Partnership for your efforts in obtaining these supplies for our businesses. Thank you Councilmember Nancy Ross and Economic Development Director Stone James from the city of Cathedral City.

City Council Gives Direction to Bring Back City Festivals for 2021-2022 The City Council held a Special Meeting on Wednesday to discuss the city’s special event...s as it prepares for the biennial budget process this spring. Communications / Events Manager Chris Parman presented the lengthy list of large and community-oriented events the city produces or sponsors each year. They include the signature events such as the Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival and Food Truck Fiesta, Taste of Jalisco, and Cathedral City LGBT Days. Other notable events include the Tejano Music Festival, North Pole Village at Snow Fest, and Halloween Spooktacular. As of March 2020, all City events have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, that millions of Americans are being vaccinated and will continue to be vaccinated over the next six months as well as new treatments on the horizon, the odds are in favor of large events getting the green light to proceed from state and county health departments. Based on current trends, the city council gave staff direction to proceed in the process of planning for the return of city festivals for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. Staff will present updated festival information at the Parks and Community Events Commission meeting on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 5:30 pm. Staff will seek commission and community input including ideas for the city’s 40th Anniversary celebration in November. To keep up on the latest information, go to: www.DiscoverCathedralCity.com
