It was a pleasure to deliver more iPads on behalf of the Castro Valley Rotary Club, Eden Medical Center, and other local generous donors today to St John Kronstadt Convalescent Center. As senior homes in CV follow the CDC guidelines which currently bars visitors to our senior homes, these iPads can help seniors communicate with their family and friends who currently cannot visit in person. We love supporting this cause and the great group of community residents! It felt great hearing a resident there being told their iPads had arrived just in time for Christmas as I left! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
The Rotary Club of Castro Valley Continues on its mission in partnership with Eden Medical Center and the Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Solano and Alamed...a to deliver iPads to our senior homes around town. The pandemic has halted visits and these can be a great device to help them communicate with all their family and loved ones during the holidays and beyond during this pandemic. We are hearing many touching and impactful stories already, and happy to help our seniors enhance their lives! These will be a great boost for their community stated Abe Oyle from Valley Pointe Nursing & Rehab! Have a safe & happy holiday! We love seeing you joining our Tuesday zoom meetings after Xmas as well which are accessible at CastroValleyRotary.org. See more
It was a pleasure to deliver 3 iPads today from the CV Rotary Club to the Redwood Convalescent Hospital. During these covid times, we are sure they will bring further communication with family, entertainment, education, and much more during these unprecedented times. As administrator Richard Traylor stated, "It feels like Santa Clause just landed on their roof with these iPads as it's been difficult for their residents and families during this Covid period since their doors and visits have been locked down." These iPads will be used with their 3 nursing stations to help open up the communication frequency for all. Thanks again for partnering on this Eden Medical Center and Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Solano and Alameda Happy Holidays!!
Castro Valley Rotary Delivers Meals to Fire Fighters and Appeals for Toy Donations On December 8, thirty-two Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) firefighters received meals prepared by Aurora Catering and personally delivered by members of the Rotary Club of Castro Valley. Castro Valley Rotarians donated more than $1,000 and partnered with Aurora Catering to show their appreciation for the firefighter's hard work during the 2020 wildfire season and the pandemic. Rotary al...so was able to provide meals to Eden Church to feed families who have been quarantined. This year has been extremely challenging year for ACFD firefighters with fires, injuries and losses, COVID-19 and the emotional strain on their families while they were gone. This event provided a holiday meal to all ACFD firefighters on duty at Stations 6, 7, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26! The Rotary Club of Castro Valley also wants to actively promote the ACFD Toy Drive. To participate, drop off new unwrapped toys at any ACFD fire station or make a financial donation at www.alcoff55toys.com. The Rotary Club of Castro Valley is currently meeting online on Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m. Speakers and links to the meetings are posted at www.castrovalleyrotary.org under Upcoming Events. The Club welcomes individuals who want to make a positive impact locally, nationally, and internationally. Picture by Chris Matthews (ACFD). Rotarian Bruce D. Johnson picked up two plus carts of toys from Sutter Eden Medical Center and delivered them to the Alameda County Fire Department for their Community Toy Drive, the Rotary Club of Castro Valley is supporting in addition to providing toys and gift certificates for Ruby’s Place and FESCO! The generosity of the Sutter community was tremendous! I am attaching a few pictures. Thank you Jackyn, Connie and Kathleen for making this happen!
