Mary McIntire Pacheco, who was First Lady of California in 1875, died on this day in 1915. She was a playwright, novelist and celebrated host of literary salons in San Francisco and Sacramento. Her husband, Romualdo Pacheco, was the first governor born in California. He briefly served as governor in 1875.
