Even in times of quarantine, CASA figured out a way to bring students to the traditional End-of-School-Year Carnival with an interactive, magical mystery involving zoom room "tents," clues, and working together! Amazing to work with such creative minds and compassionate individuals who reliably know how to put students first. #ThrowbackThursday #CASAmagic #AfterSchoolArts

Flashback Friday to last weekend, when we zoom gathered for the Llama Island Singalong with special guest, unnamed baby llama at Menagerie Hill Ranch! What a wonderful, warm celebration for the end of the school year! The alpaca name winner was a rising 7th grader, Kai Souzis, for his name Lazlo, which was the last name of the character he created for the 2019 CASA musical, Escape to Llama Island. Kai says, When my mom was pregnant, one of the names she was considering for... me was Lazlo. I always really liked Lazlo. If I wasn't Kai, I would have wanted to be named Lazlo, so I chose it for my character's last name in the CASA play. It is also a really good name for an alpaca. CASA and Menagerie Hill Ranch Ranch agree, Kai! Thanks to all who joined us and submitted name suggestions! Thank you Laurie for hosting our event and leading us in Llama Island bingo! Menagerie Hill Ranch is planning to reopen in the coming weeks. Make sure you schedule a visit to baby Lazlo! #FlashbackFriday #Llamas #MusicalTheater #CASAmagic #AfterSchoolArts

Although we are unable to hold a play this year, we are continuing to celebrate CASA's musical theater spirit. Today we are reminiscing about CASA's 2015 play, "City Not For Sale," and CASA's 2016 play, "The American Hive." Join us on Saturday for a special sing-along screening of the 2019 CASA musical, Escape to Llama Island! You can pre-order paella (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0448aea62aaaff2-llama) for pick-up before the big show, then tune in at 6:00pm for all the fun (we'll send the link!). #ThrowbackThursday #CASAmagic #AfterSchoolArts #MusicalTheater

It's the last Teacher Tuesday of the CASA school year! We just want to send out a note of appreciation to any of our teachers who opted out of being featured and just say that we love you and couldn't be CASA without you (y'all know who you are)! Your dedication to our kids is known! We also want to thank our amazing substitute teachers who come in sometimes on a whim’s notice to provide continuity and that same CASA spirit! And finally, we want to shine some light on our ou...tstanding Administration Team (Jo, Ammo, Lisa, and Director Leslie) who wear many hats one of which is their teacher-hat. Thank you time and again for stepping in wherever needed and for stellar Wednesday Workshops like American Sign Language and Makerspace as well. You fight so hard for what CASA stands for and are our fearless leaders, the teachers of the teachers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! #Humility #BESTadmin #TeacherTuesday #CASAmagic #AfterSchoolArts #GoTEAM

Today we are showcasing our amazing Kindergarten Director, Leah! Leah has been working with CASA Kinders for 3 years now. Focusing on social emotional understanding so early in childhood is something Leah is very passionate about. She’s proud to share this special learning with each and every student. Students know where to find Leah on the yard if they ever need a hug! She shares, I love having these kids be a part of my life they teach me just as much as I teach them....... Working with the young ones continuously makes me laugh and feel so much love! Additionally, she enjoys the little communities within CASA we are able to build in ways that are unique to each teacher’s style. Some of Leah’s non-work interests include dogs of all types, seeing her family and friends, and sleeping! We love the heart she brings to CASA each day! #TeacherTuesday #CASAmagic #AfterSchoolArts #Kindergarten #SEL

Introducing Blake (he/him), a teacher aide for 2nd grade at CASA! He loves CASA because of how creative all the students and teachers are, and he never ceases to be amazed with the art that comes out of the classes. He also loves CASA's dedication to our mission of social justice and emotional wellness. So far he’s helped the students make awesome "zines," a lot of paper airplanes, and even some stop action movies. Before joining CASA, Blake worked as an engineer which feed...s his love for teaching kids about science and how the world works. The kids particularly love when his lessons in aerodynamics help their paper airplanes fly further. Outside of the classroom, Blake enjoys cooking, gardening, and playing the piano and marimba. Blake is excited to keep working with CASA, and can't wait to see what's in store for the future! Blake, you are already making such positive connections with students, families, and staff alike. We are glad to have you on board! Welcome to the CASA adventure! #TeacherTuesday #AfterSchoolArts #CASAmagic
