Hey gang, Just got word that we have been evicted from our location at Starbucks in Soquel. This is unfortunate, but I have heard that the owners of the center have received complaints from business owners about too many cars in the lot when they are open. We have always tried to limit our gathering to about 7am to 9am, but with the warm weather many are staying longer. Our new location starting this Saturday will be in the large lot at the Capitola Mall which is at 1855... 41st Avenue, Capitola. Please do not park in the Citi Bank or Starbucks lot (but we will be in close proximity). We will be parked along 41st ave and members of the Cam-snappers and Kingsman will likely be there around 7 am and will guide you. Any questions, let me know and please spread the word! Please be respectful to the Mall and their patrons. No burnouts or loud stereos please. See more

The Governor and the County says we can "protest" in large groups.....with social distancing and masks! Just saying.... Gatheringsmeetings or other events that bring together persons from multiple households at the same time for a shared or group experience in a single room, space, or place such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, or other indoor or outdoor spacepose an especially great danger of transmission and spread of COVID-19. As ...a consequence, State public health directives prohibit professional, social and community mass gatherings. On May 25, 2020, in an effort to balance First Amendment interests with public health, the State Public Health Officer created an exception to the prohibition against mass gatherings for faith-based services and cultural ceremonies as well as protests. Those types of gatherings are permitted so long as they do not exceed 100 attendees or 25% of the capacity of the space in which the gathering is held, whichever is lower. All other mass gatherings are prohibited until further notice.

I've had a few questions about starting up Cars & Coffee gatherings again. As much as I would like to personally, the County and the State have guidelines in "phases" as most of you know. We are entering phase 2. Based on what I cut and pasted from the County Health web site, it would be my best guess that we will have to wait until phase 3 for gatherings such as ours. "Stage 3 and Stage 4 businesses and operations, such as hair and nail salons, movie theaters, religious s...ervices, sporting events and other large gatherings, are not included in the variance process at this time and remain closed throughout California. In deciding whether to allow activities to resume, counties may not be more permissive than State rules." So I figure when the beaches are totally open, the flea market is open, etc. we should be good to go (my opinion only)! Remember, the Cars & Coffee is not a sponsored event, it is mostly "impromptu"! With that said, work on, polish up and get out and drive your cars and enjoy the great weather. We will be back and I will put out info as soon as it seems relevant. Feel free to post photos of your little car adventures in the mean time and I will start with a few. Take care and hope to see you all soon!
