Training is a very important part of our commitment to service and even during #COVID19, ongoing training must continue. Officers are extensively trained in the academy, but the training does not stop there. Once out of the academy, an officer begins on the job training with a training officer. Finally, officers receive regular and ongoing training for the rest of their career. Along with innovative tools, training is an invaluable part of the department’s mission to effectively serve the community of Carlsbad. #stayinghealthy #stayingsafe #teamCarlsbad #together #education #educationmatters #educationispower #tuesdayvibes

Thank you, Officers Gallivan and Wang the latest recipients of the department’s "Lifesaving Award." Gallivan and Wang were sent to a 911 call for help. The officers further learned there was a man on the ground that was unconscious and unresponsive. Officer Gallivan arrived first, assessed the situation and immediately began chest compressions. Officer Wang arrived next and grabbed his AED device from the patrol vehicle. Officer Wang skillfully followed the audible instruct...ions given by the AED Device, successfully administering the device. Seconds later, the officers found the man now had a pulse. Our partners at the Fire Department arrived and took over medical aid. A big thank you to Officer Gallivan and Wang who acted quickly and saved this man’s life. We are grateful we have the training and tools necessary to take quick, and necessary action. #teamCarlsbad See more
