Rest easy, Brother. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. #repost @iafflocal1014 Yesterday was a day with mixed emotions for many and a day that we will never forget. A day where a phone call changed everything for so many. We lost a brother and a friend and father yesterday. In the morning we graduated FSAs Class 82 and the start of a wonderful career for so many, and almost at the same time we lost a brother from our ranks. ... Brother Brian Levasseur aka Sharky passed suddenly and unexpectedly from a medical issue. Sharky was a hard working, well respected passionate LA County Fire Captain. Working busy stations, getting involved in so many things to include mentoring and training new folks in all ranks both in the basin and on Strike Teams. Sharky leaves behind his daughter and a #FireFamily of so many who are reeling at the loss of our friend. Thank you to Assistant Fire Chief Eleni Pappas whose bold action to get the ball rolling to honor our brother and care for his family. Station and Battalion folks, Chief Officers, Peer Support Team, Chaplain Team, and our brothers and sisters from Ventura County have all risen to the occasion to work together to take care of Brian. As this weekend progresses, we take time to grieve, remember, and reflect. He will not be forgotten and we will honor his service, his friendship and his life as we band together to get this done. On behalf of the Local 1014 Executive Board, I share our heartfelt thoughts, condolences and heartache as many of us knew and worked with Sharky. Today, the #CarlsbadFirefighters celebrated the life of Mr. Frank Whitton. A former Lt. Colonel in the #USMC, Frank dedicated more than 20 years of service to his country and his call to public service continued for many years after that. Mr. Whitton is the founder of our Carlsbad Fire Foundation (est. 13’), a foundation that harbors great traditions. Since its inception, the @carlsbadfdf has raised and donated money to supplement department training, equipment and provide ac...ademic scholarships for @carlsbadfiredepartment family members.
