Patients with pre-existing CVD who have contracted COVID-19 are about 10% more likely to die, compared to only 1% of otherwise healthy patients. Currently, there are no special protocols for higher-risk cardiac patients to prevent COVID-19 exposure. If we stop interacting, the virus cannot spread person to person and we have a chance to stop it according to the physician leadership of Sutter Health, one of the largest and most sophisticated health systems in the country. Thank you Leadership, Innovation, and Clinical Performance Awardees for your outstanding contribution to meet our mutual goal of Getting Toward Zero Preventable Deaths and Disabilities from heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes! Five amazing leaders were gifted with the following awards at out 11th Annual Clinical Improvement and Leadership Summit held on Monday November 18, 2019. Dr. Joseph Sky was awarded the Public Service Leadership Award for Precision Heart Attack & Strok...e Prevention Deploying Advanced Computing, Ancient Wisdom & Holistic Shared Decision Making. Dr. Nirali Vora was awarded the Young Leadership Award for Innovations to Slash Stroke Disability and Death. Dr. Parag Agnihotri was awarded the Multi-Community Innovative Leadership Award for Getting Toward Zero Deaths and Disabilities from Diabetes, Heart Attacks and Strokes. Dr. Stephen Sidney was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership of the CARDIA Study illuminating the Importance of Coronary Artery Calcium Plaque in the Young for Triage. Dr. William J. Bommer was awarded with the Community Leadership Award for Leaning Forward with Implementation Action to Prevent Heart Attacks and Strokes. Thank you once again for all that you do in our mutual effort to Get Toward Zero deaths and disabilities from Diabetes, Heart Attacks,and Strokes. Congratulations to our award winners!
