A few weeks ago, CTEC manufacturing juniors were tasked with the mission to reach out to teachers pitch their next product: A board game designed to help students learn a subject. Students and teachers discussed the project concept drawings, game play mechanics, an example or two of how learning your subject might take place. The creativity and production by the students are amazing!

Mrs. Amanda Hodges teaches social studies at CTEC and continually raises the bar for her sophomores. Distance learning has changed the landscape of traditional teaching and Mrs. Hodges has embraced this change. Her innovation with the social studies content has ignited students' desire to learn. She supports her students and teaches them through the Teams platform by setting clear, daily learning objectives and by involving all students in the conversation. Mrs. Hodges als...o takes time to assist each of her students with their assignments not just during office hours, but in class, too. She is thoughtful and intentional about all of her decisions regarding students. Mrs. Hodges is also the driving force behind CTEC’s revamped website; she has taken care to go through every page to be sure that we are communicative with our CTEC families. In addition, she leads her PLC with poise and fairness. Last Friday, Caglia Environmental tour our campus and experienced the CAT Simulators. Richard Caglia, President Corporate Development for the Caglia Family of Companies, which includes Electric Motor Shop and the Caglia Environmental solid waste and recycling companies brought a few of his best to test our CAT simulators. The school closure due to Covid 19 further complicated the lives of adolescents. Mrs. Bernard rose to the occasion and has been readily available to counsel our students experiencing academic and emotional distress; she remained a constant in their lives. She also has developed a monthly newsletter with tips and advice for students and parents and has even spear-headed study skills labs for students. CTEC is excited to welcome our new Vice Principal, Andria Watterson! Prior to joining us, Andria worked as a GLS in Central Unified, and a High School English Teacher in Madera Unified. She loves Halloween, The Nightmare Before Christmas, gardening and her favorite color is purple. She is looking forward to getting to know our CTEC families and finding even more ways to support students and parents.

An update from CTEC Director Mr. Delano: With the current state mandate for distance learning for counties on the COVID-19 watchlist, CTEC is preparing to open school this fall with distance learning. CTEC recognizes the importance of providing students with a high quality education that is rigorous, yet has ample opportunities for students to engage with staff and peers throughout the learning environment. CTEC’s academic program is developed upon the ideals of Career Tech...nical Education and the impact hands-on learning has on student development. Therefore, CTEC’s distance learning will continue to provide students with opportunities to engage with projects and activities that ensures hands-on learning, as well as the development of industry skills. Students will be provided with the appropriate training and materials to complete tasks at home and on CTEC’s campus when necessary. CTEC's 2020/2021 School Calendar

Happy 4th of July CTEC family. I know there have been a lot of questions out there about the reopening of school for the 2020/21 school year. With the uncertainty of COVID-19 it has been difficult to give clear direction on next year's academic program. We have been working over the last several months on the development of CTEC's reopening plan and the possible class schedules for students. Our reopening plan is currently with the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, and... as soon as we have confirmation, we will share the plan with our CTEC families. What I can confirm as of now, knowing that everything is dependent upon the COVID-19 outbreak and direction of the County Health department, CTEC is reopening school on August 10th with a blended academic program of both on campus and online instruction. The number of students on campus will be limited and will be required to adhere to social distancing throughout the campus and in classrooms. The reopening plan will go into further detail when it is approved to be shared with the public. Thank you for your patience, we are working to make sure that our campus is safe to all who enter and participate in our academic program. It has been difficult to say with the ever changing situation with COVID-19, our goal is to reopen school on August 10, with a blended program of onsite instruction and online instruction. The reopening plan will be shared with everyone as soon as it is approved by the county office. I will share the 2020/21 school calendar ASAP.
