We are pleased to announce a parent training series for families that self-identify as Black, African American or of the African Diaspora: "Know Your Rights: SSI, IHSS & RCEB Services". It begins next Monday, Nov. 9 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom and runs the following two Mondays, Nov. 16 & Nov. 23 from 2-3:30pm. This series is aimed to empower Black families when advocating for these public benefits and services. Arthur Lipscomb, an attorney and advocate at the OCRA (Office of Clients' Rights Advocate) at DRC (Disability Rights California), will be presenting the information on what rights clients have regarding these benefits and services, strategies for appeal, and COVID updates.

Happy National Disability Employment Awareness Month! Today's spotlight is Dante Allen. This is an excerpt from a full article that will be featured in RIL's qu...arterly newsletter. To sign up to receive the newsletter visit https://www.ril-sacramento.org. Dante Allen is the Executive Director for CalABLE, where he is responsible for guiding the program’s operations and growth. Dante is a person with a disability, having been born with Spina Bifida, a congenital defect of the spine resulting in partial paralysis. Dante is a full-time wheelchair user and brings his personal experience, along with his professional experience in healthcare and health equity, to his work at CalABLE in order to help others with disabilities achieve financial equality. Dante is a life-long Californian, having received his bachelors degree from the University of California at Davis, and a Masters of Communications Management from the University of Southern California. He lives in Solano County with his daughter, who is a senior in high school. If you have a story to share, please email it and a photo to Kaelea Lucas at [email protected].
