The US Air Force will be doing a flyover to salute the workers on the frontline of the pandemic today to showcase American resolve and to champion unity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cal Guard uses flyovers to enhance readiness at no additional cost to taxpayers. Flyovers give pilots and air crews opportunities to meet their regular flight currency and readiness requirements.

Here’s something to get geared up about: we’re taking our beloved Capitola Rod and Custom Classic Car Show to a new platform this year for all to enjoy! Those who are currently registered for our 2021 show can send a snapshot of their classic car to us via email for a chance at the grand prize. Your featured vehicle should follow the guidelines of the show: American made, vintage to 1987. Entries will be judged based on originality and creativity so feel free to get crafty! N...eed to know the stakes? The grand prize winner will receive gold level entry to our 2021 car show, including gift bag goodies, VIP area access both Saturday and Sunday, a commemorative t-Shirt and the reimbursement of their registration fee (a $225 value!). That’s not all! Every qualified participant of our virtual car show is eligible for a prize: a gift card for a Capitola Village business (up to $10 value). The Santa Cruz County Health Officer has issued an order generally requiring face coverings be worn in public, effective at 11:59pm April 24, 2020. The 2020 car show is cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic :( Capitola Foundation knows that cancelling this year's show is the right thing to do. We have watched as the number of COVID-19 cases (and resulting safety restrictions) increase exponentially, and there is no way to predict when we will flatten the curve, much less when the "all clear" will be given. We already have over 80 registrants who have re-registered for the 2021 show, which will be held June 12th & 13th. See you on the other side of this. Stay safe, everyone.
