I started working on our holiday window scene tonight. Carving styrofoam with a heat wire is extremely soothing. So, this is the beginnings of our Nordic gnome ski village. We’ll have gondolas taking the gnomes from one window, across the door, to the village in the other window. After I get this carved, I’ll plaster it, then paint it. Sacramento County has been ordered back to purple because of COVID case increases. What does that mean for us? Well, nothing. We never did go up to 40% capacity. This is Maya, the granddaughter of one of our customers, Raylin. Maya is Spanish-speaking, and Raylin is just learning Spanish. So, every 3 weeks Grandma Raylin comes in to buy Maya a Spanish Children’s book. We keep them well-stocked. Maya is teaching her grandma how to speak Spanish, and Raylin teaches Maya English through our books.
