A bit of an update from the new raised bed. Day 56, and about 7 days from ready. This Chemdog D was gifted by @therealuncledoobie when I first arrived back in m...ass. There are 9 clones in this bed that were less than 6 tall when flowering began. Running only water, aloe and kelp, Rootwise Soil Dynamics and @optiveg_ in a modified Buildasoil soil blend in a Grassrootsfabricpots living soil bed. Under a combination of Fluence Bioengineering and @solistek lighting. I have been building up one third of the bed while cultivating the other 2/3’rds and the soil is really starting to explode now. Very happy and can’t wait to see the next run in it. #stillwatergenetics #buildasoil #rootwisesoildynamics #optiveg #grassrootsfabricpots #solistek #fluencebioengineering #notill #notillcannabis #probiotic #probioticcannabis #knf #knfcannabis #aloeandkelp See more

Photo credit: High Desert Flower 4'x40'x2' heated beds. This is a very timely post considering a lot of people are running winter crops right now, and normally see a drop in quality and or in end weight of harvested product. Sometimes seeing a 25% drop in weight. Is it really because of less light compared to summer? Maybe a small amount of the problem. Heating your soil will help create the right living soil conditions year round. A few things to think about besides heatin...g soil. What is your water temps being delivered to the plant through your irrigation system. 70-75? What is your soil temps before and after that water saturates the soil 70-75? Why is this so important you ask?? I'm not a soil or plant scientist and may miss a few good points, but when soil/water temps are below 50 it's very hard for the plant to cycle or uptake nutrients???? #coldwellwater Whaaat back in the day we would but ice water on our plants to turn them purple right before harvest. #broscience When growing in living soil, water/soil temps are very important to create the right environment for your microbes to cycle nutrients for the plant. Build out comments: This may have been done, but I would have liked to see a layer of sand before soil is laid down or insolating the heating lines with soil below the lines. Harder to keep lines in place, but will help conservation of gas to heat the water less often. Compared to the lines directly on the base of the bed putting out half of the heat towards the ground. This looks clean, but may not be the only way. I would also suggest not using the wood below the beds could be a future source of rot or mold. Obviously the wood frame below the beds helps hold the hot water lines in place and increse drainage. I would just highly encourage not using wood, if possible. I see the wood frames being the first thing to fail is why. Steve Cantwell, owner and operator of Green Life Productions, sits down with us to break down why large scale notill is not only doable, but is the most automated way to grow. Green Life Productions is a large indoor medical facility in Nevada.

Green Life Productions is an indoor medical facility in Nevada. They have a couple locations and we were able to visit their Las Vegas grow to document their notill methods. Steve Cantwell, who owns and operates Green Life Productions, shares his experience.
