#tbt to our previously sold 2004 Porsche Carrera GT. The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars. Due in part to the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998, both designs had ended. Porsche at the time had planned on a new Le Mans prototype for 1999. The car was initially intended to use a turbocharged flat-6, but was later redesigned to use a new V10 engine. The V10 was a unit secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula One tea...m in 1992, but later shelved. The engine was resurrected for the Le Mans prototype and increased in size to 5.7 liters. The project was canceled in mid-1999, mostly due to Porsche's wish to build the Cayenne SUV with involvement from Volkswagen and Audi, thus requiring engineering expertise to be pulled from the motorsports division. Porsche did keep part of the project alive by using the 5.5 L V10 from the prototype in a concept car shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, mainly in an attempt to draw attention to their display. Surprising interest in the vehicle, and an influx of revenue provided from the Cayenne helped Porsche decide to produce the car, and development started on a road-legal version that would be produced in small numbers at Porsche's new manufacturing facility in Leipzig. Porsche started a production run of Carrera GTs in 2004, shipping the units with an MSRP of US $448,000. The first Carrera GT went on sale in the United States on January 31, 2004. Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. However, Porsche announced in August 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through to 2006, citing discontinuation was due to changing airbag regulations in the United States. As of May 6, 2006, 1,270 GT's had been manufactured, with 604 being sold in the United States.

One of the best under-the-radar cars in the automotive world is the Mercedes-Benz 500E. Built in collaboration with Porsche in the early 90s, it is one of the greatest Q-ship sedans ever created. Using parts from the SL sports car and accessing Porsche’s handmade expertise, these special cars took an average of 18 days to build. With the immensely powerful 326 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine came impressive performance with a limited top speed of 155mph, all while maintaining ...the Mercedes-Benz level of quality and comfort. This particular 500E was sold new in Ohio, and came standard with a long list of special equipment, including Porsche-designed self-leveling hydraulic suspension, cruise control, power seats, power sunroof, power windows and locks, large 4-wheel disc brakes from the SL500, and of course the bulletproof 5.0-liter V8 engine. The 500E is also equipped with a set of 18’ AMG Monoblock wheels. It remained with its first owner until 2012, during which time the owner only added 55,000 miles. Upon arrival at Canepa, each and every collector car for sale is put through an extensive and diligent process called the Canepa Difference. This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where all systems are checked and serviced as necessary, plus an award-winning concours-level detailing that involves a thorough cleaning of each and every surface ensuring that every car is a sight to behold. Finishing off with a foam-pad-only polish to enhance the paint finish, each and every car is a perfect example and a personification of Bruce Canepa’s impeccable attention to detail. Revealed at the 1974 Paris Auto Show, the concept Porsche 930 sparked a turbo street car era. The 1975 model year was the beginning of what would span a 15-year production run for the original 911 Turbo. Taking motorsports experience and applying it to a street car, the Porsche 930 was a turbo-boosted hot rod 911 that you could buy from the factory, with a warranty. Originally released with a 3.0-liter engine, in 1978 the 930 received a 3.3-liter power plant with reduced turb...o lag and increased power from 260hp to 300hp. Porsche has produced a 911 Turbo variant for each subsequent 911 generation, with each striving for the success and critical acclaim of the car that started it all, the 930. Completed at the Porsche factory on February 9th, 1984, this sinister black Turbo was originally sold to its first owner in Japan, who registered the car the same year. During his ownership, the 930 was serviced regularly despite the low mileage, as recorded by the service decals mounted in the rear deck lid. After twenty years of continuous stewardship, the owner sold the car in 2004. Its second owner kept the car until 2012, and with only 4,100 km on the odometer, sold it to the third owner, who added less than 100 kilometers under his care. Upon arrival at Canepa, the 930 received the Canepa Difference preparation, and was inspected both meticulously, and empathetically. Finding a Porsche 930 with less than 3,000 original miles, that had been maintained and taken care of in a manner such as this example is a rare find. After Bruce Canepa's inspection, the car was judged to be in spectacular mechanical and cosmetic condition, worthy of presentation on any show lawn. It is now available at canepa.com

#tbt to our previously sold ’64 356SC, this stunning car, comes even with a great story: Often times the visual that comes to people’s minds when early Porsches are mentioned is the classic and iconic Porsche 356. With its timeless styling that evolved over the course of its 10+ year production run, increasingly gaining power and handling improvements during that time, it became a well-known and well-loved sports car. This numbers matching 356 SC Coupe completed production ...at the Porsche factory on February 26th, 1964 according to its Porsche Kardex. Painted in Irish Green with a Light Brown Leatherette interior, it was optioned with a Power Sunroof, Chrome Wheels, and a Wood Rim Steering Wheel with a Chrome Horn Ring. The original owner lived in Hollywood and had to sell his 356 due to relocation of his job shortly after, selling it for $4,650 to Mr. James Dry. An aircraft mechanic by trade, Mr. Dry was an experienced Porsche 356 mechanic who had a small shop in his backyard. The Irish Green 'SC' however, stayed under his stewardship for thirty-one years, until he eventually sold it to James Thomson of Los Altos, in Northern California. Mr. Thomson maintained the 356 himself, adding very few miles during his ownership, and eventually sold it. The new owner, Daniel Rogers, was a fanatic for documentation, and serves as the Director of the Smithsonian Institute for the Department of Archeology. Rogers completed his purchase of the Irish Green 356 SC Coupe on May 30, 1999, and had it transported from Los Altos to his home in Alexandria, Virginia. Upon receipt, Rogers meticulously documented the car in detail. He made telephone contact with previous owners, and visited with James Dry at his home on June 18, 1999, with the intent to chronograph the 356 SC's ownership history since new. Over his next seventeen years, Rogers would document each detail of his time spent as caretaker of chassis 128849 in three volumes of notes, and five photo albums. His journey from purchase, servicing, attending driven events, through a complete show level restoration, and display at Concours d'Elegance is archived in full.

Our passion for modifying cars from all makes and models can be seen through our collaborations in the past. This 1999 Pontiac Prix is a great example of that. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Petty Enterprises, Richard Petty wanted to create a special "Limited Edition" NASCAR Pontiac that his fans could buy directly from their local Pontiac dealer. The project was conceived by Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan who teamed with Bruce Canepa to create this one of a kind conce...pt car. This Pontiac Prix produces 300hp with a supercharged V6 engine. 60hp more from its original form. The transmission, suspension and brakes have all been upgraded to handle the increase in horsepower and improve handling. Custom one off aluminum wheels, special painted Petty graphics, full leather interior with Petty’s signature embroidered into each front seat and carbon fiber trim complete the package of this stunning concept car.
