I know it’s been some time, and it’s been a challenge to press forward with efforts to build The Big Splash in the midst of this viral event. I assure you that... The Big Splash team has been working hard behind the scenes and here are a few successes that we have been working on... 1- Farewell to the old Caterpillar at the City Park! I assure you he is safe. The City Council will be making a decision on what to do with our old friend. While the history of the old caterpillar is unknown (does anyone know?), he has become an icon for the children of Red Bluff between the 70s through 90s. The old playground site is currently being cleared this week to make way for the splash pad! A HUGE shout out to City Council, City Public Works and The Maintenance team for your involvement!!! 2-Park Ordinances Success! Vici Miranda, Chairperson of The Big Splash, along with the Parks Commission have made recommendations to The City Council to update the park ordinances. With a 4-1 vote made by the council last night, the ordinances have successfully passed! The new ordinances are for ALL City Parks. -NO SMOKING on park property (This includes cigarettes, vaping, and Marijuana) -No Shopping carts on park property. -Park Hours are now 7am to 10pm -Rules for Expulsion have now been enacted so officers may expel persons from the parks if they deem necesssary. A HUGE Thank you to Police Chief Sanders and the RBPD for your help in creating these ordinances. 3- Shade Pavillion- significantly delayed due to the virus and a stall in manufacturing, the shade structure is ready to ship! As phase 1 of the construction project starts, the shade will be installed on the south side of the pool within the coming months. We are continuing to fundraise and haveTWO great raffles going now a YETI raffle, donated by Camper's Corral and a Home Solar system donated by Affordable Solar Energy. If you’d like tickets, send us a message and we can deliver! Thank you all for your continued support, I can’t wait to splash with you all!
