Camp Cedar Glen 21.01.2021

The American Camp Association Magazine just published a piece about camp friendships written by this past summer's Program Coordinator, Abi! We are so proud of and grateful for the connections that have been made at Camp Cedar Glen.

Friday was our last week of camp for the summer. Although this year was very different than summers past, we are so appreciative of the campers that took a chance on virtual camp. There was so much joy and laughter experienced over some Zoom calls that often felt like they had to end a little too soon. If you are still looking for a way to experience a bit of camp this summer, Youtube just launched #CampYouTube that's full of videos friendly for all ages, featuring outdoor skills, camp activities, and motivational talks (you'll have to close your eyes and imagine a campfire while you listen). Hopefully this will help tide you over until we are able to gather once more.

Camp Cedar Glen 12.12.2020

The Kuipers are moving onto a new horizon, My family and I have been in a season of transition. This all began about two years ago with a decision to move our kids to Santa Fe Christian Schools in Solana Beach. To make this possible, God opened the door for my wife to be one of their HS Spanish teachers. With this, we thought we would have the best of two worlds, a place on the coast and a place on the mountain. The first year was nostalgic, yet as the kids built relationshi...ps and involved themselves in sports etc, their desire to come up to Julian faded. Leaving me spending more time on the mountain, while my family was more and more time on the coast. God used my desire to be with my family, as a way to transition me from a ministry that my whole family had loved. Then in His perfect timing, it happened. A little over a month ago, I was introduced to a science teacher from Ramona, who wanted to interview me regarding wolf ecology for his class. In getting to know this teacher, I shared my excitement for my daughters acceptance to attend PLNU in the fall. I also shared my concern for our ability to help her afford this new adventure. He went on to share that he graduated from PLNU, infact, he is an adjunct professor at the school in the summers. He went on to share about PLNU’s tuition remission. A long story short, my wife and I felt that God was telling us, this is what I have for you. With the opportunities that my kids have down the hill, and our desire to help our kids go to this beautiful christian college, I applied. As of Monday, I too will be at PLNU. There have been so many God moments through this transition. God has used His church in so many ways to come alongside us with confirmations, that He is in control. We are excited for this transition and God’s provision as He works through His church. My family and I will be forever grateful for the time and relationships built over the last twenty years, working for Cal Pac Camp Cedar Glen. We will carry these relationships with us and look forward to new opportunities as we take this step of faith. Thank you to all those who have been part of my journey! Keep in touch and God bless!
