#WhereDoesItGoWednesday is back for another edition. Let's talk about hoses! Spring is here, and everyone is busy renovating gardens and getting plants in the ground. If you're looking to get rid of an old hose this Spring make sure it doesn't end up in your recycling cart or can. Hoses get caught up in our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and create a major hazard for our sorters and the MRF itself.

Once our Split Body Trucks have finished their routes in your neighborhood they return to our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to unload recyclables for our MRF or they unload trash to be hauled to a landfill. These Split Body Trucks are just one component of how we are committing to lowering emissions as well as wear and tear on our community's roads.

The Galt city wide egg hunt starts Monday!

New Hard Hats at Cal-Waste! This morning we issued new personalized hard hats to our drivers. We take great pride in our safety program!

In case you haven't heard, plastic bags are not recyclable. While they are reusable, they cannot be processed like recyclable plastics. If you're disposing of a plastic bag be sure that it goes in your trash container.

Save resources by signing up for our E-billing system! Just grab one of your recent bills and visit our website and click on the "Bill Pay" in the top right hand corner.

It's #WhereDoesItGoWednesday! This week we're highlighting TIRES! If you're not going to repurpose your old tires for a tire swing then you'll have to bring them to a tire collection center. Please check with your local SPECIAL WASTE COLLECTION CENTER for dates and addresses for when and where you can take old tires.

Split Body Trucks are hard at work in your neighborhood! These trucks are able to pick up two of your waste types in one trip. That could be trash and recycling, trash and green waste, or green waste and recycling. By making fewer trips to your neighborhood, we're reducing air pollution, reducing noise pollution, reducing wear on roads, and overall improving safety. There are hundreds of Galt families signed up to receive holiday dinner boxes from the Galt Sunrise Rotary this year. Donations are still being accepted for... this amazing event. Galt Sunrise Rotary is asking for boxed/bagged stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, canned green beans and gravy packets. Donation bins are available at both the Galt Save Mart and Raley's locations. Monetary donations are also welcome by visiting the Galt Sunrise Rotary website and clicking the "donate" button, https://www.galtsunriserotary.com/. In another edition of "WHERE DOES IT GO WEDNESDAY" we're talking about CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, and while we're at it, all cords, hoses, and items that resemble ropes. They all belong in your trash cart or can. These items can get tangled in our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and endanger our MRF team members. DON'T PUT THESE ITEMS IN YOUR RECYCLING: Batteries, Styrofoam, and Plastic Bags These three items are often incorrectly placed in recycling bins. Batteries fall into the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) category, and should go to HHW collection centers. Styrofoam cannot be recycled and must be placed with trash. After you're done opening amazon boxes, wrapping gifts, and making a fort with them for the kids, don't forget to break down the boxes so they fit neatly in your recycling cart. Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season to all!
