Deuteronomy 17:1617, But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the LORD has said to you, ‘You shall not return that way again.’ Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself. There were four principle authorities that God had set in place in the Hebrew society that consisted of four offices. There was the prophet through whom ...God communicated His instruction. There was the priest who instructed the people through the Word of God, given through the prophet. Then there was the king who ran the society according to the instruction of the priest. Lastly, there was the judge who enforced the system that had been set in place. Each of the men who would hold these offices had personal accountability before the Lord. Today we see three warnings that were given to the king. We will look at these three warnings in light of King Solomon’s life, in that he was the wisest of them all. First the king is instructed to not multiply horses. Solomon ended up gathering over one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen. The horses for them were imported from Egypt. Next, the king is told to not multiply wives. Solomon multiplied them to the tune of seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines. The Bible tells us that they turned his heart away from God. Lastly, we are told that the king is to not multiply riches. The Bible tells us that King Solomon’s riches surpassed the riches of all the kings of the earth. Solomon, the wisest man who ever existed, became the biggest fool because he did not listen to the Lord. The person who is truly wise hears God’s Word and does it. 2 Timothy 3:1617, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/

Deuteronomy 13:12, If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods’which you have not known‘and let us serve them,’ Chapters 13-14:21 are Moses’ commentary on the third commandment which tells us that we are not to take the name of the Lord our God in vain. In our lives this would be to invoke the name of the Lord for no ...good reason. Have you ever had someone tell you that the Lord told them to tell you something when in fact you know that He had not? This person has taken the name of God in vain. People take the name of God in vain when they use it in profound speech. I believe that the absolute worse way the Lord’s name is taken in vain today is when a person calls themselves a Christian and acts like an unbeliever. God does not save people and bring them into His family for vain reasons but His desire for us is that we would live a productive Christian life. So, we must consider our speech and our actions. Do we use these things to glorify our God or are they vain things that detract from what God wants to do through us? 2 Thessalonians 1:11, Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/
