We are deeply saddened to hear that acts of hatred and antisemitism were committed against Cal Poly’s Jewish fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi, this Friday. We see you, and we stand with you. Please see the reposted caption from @sloaepi below, and click the link in their bio for a link to their GoFundMe, which will raise money for the repairs needed and a security system for the chapter house. Last week, on January 27th, we honored the memory of the 6 million Jews who perished... and others affected by the Holocaust. Unfortunately, in 2021, antisemitism is still the number one cause of hate crimes in the United States. This morning, a hateful group of people committed an antisemitic hate crime on our chapter house. We awoke to multiple swastikas and antisemitic statements spray-painted on and in front of our house. This was targeted at us, as the Jewish fraternity, and we would like to let the world know we do not tolerate or condone this behavior. Our chapter and the entire San Luis Obispo Jewish community stand together proudly against those who are uneducated and who encourage hateful acts. We are proud to be the Jewish fraternity on this campus, and at this time we ask for your support in spreading awareness about rising antisemitism through education and discussion. AEPi and the Jewish community have an open door to anyone who wishes to learn about our culture and beliefs. It is our mission to make Cal Poly a safe place for everyone. Here at the Cal Poly machine shops, we love to highlight the successes and growth in our student techs and in the students and faculty that use our shops. We wanted to take a moment to recognize and congratulate our graduating undergraduate shop technicians. The Cal Poly machine shops and our student technicians stand in solidarity with the marginalized groups and individuals who have been traumatized by police brutality and systemic racism. We are committed to social justice, equality, diversity, and inclusion as a community of students, staff, and faculty based in love, empathy, and respect. For those suffering, we see you. For those students, faculty, and staff with privilege, we urge you to act as an ally and take advantage of your platform to create ripples of awareness in your community. Speak up, donate, protest, sign petitions, register to vote, amplify the voices of people of color, and most importantly take the time to educate yourself and others with the many accessible resources that are being shared on media platforms.

We would like to give a huge shout-out to Fastenal, which is the go-to place for any hardware that we need. Thank you Fastenal for being just a call away! Their delivery service to campus saves us a lot of time and effort. They often deliver the day after we call, which saves a ton of downtime if there is a broken machine.
