Supervisor Dillon Will Not Run for Re-Election in 2022 During these uncertain times, many of my District Three constituents have asked if I will run for re-election to a sixth term on the Napa County Board of Supervisors in 2022. After much consideration, I have decided these next two years on the board will be my last. I have chosen to announce this early out of my profound sense of responsibility to the residents of District Three. I hope to ensure the best chance for cont...inuing Napa County’s good governance into the future. It is in everyone’s best interest for all candidates to be fully vetted by the voters. The Board of Supervisors continues to face unprecedented challenges from the pandemic and fires, and there is much yet to do on these issues while running our county well and securely on a path to a sustainable future. We also face a new challenge to integrate large mandatory Housing Element numbers into our slow-growth General Plan. From now until the end of my term, my commitment will remain unflagging, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on all of these matters. I thank my constituents for their support. My focus in the next two years will be on fire mitigation, preparedness, and recovery, and effective stewardship of our land and water resources; these are issues vital to our district and our county. My hope is that my successor will share a commitment to and experience with these priorities, as each is an important responsibility of every elected Supervisor. In the longer term, and closest to my heart, protection of our landmark Ag Preserve, our precious watershed, and our agricultural heritage require constant vigilance from us all. I pledge, whether in or out of office, I will continue to work--as I have since the 1980s--against any efforts to undermine the protections the voters put into our General Plan by Measure J and Measure P. PSPS likely tomorrow starting between 6 and 8 p.m. Calistoga is currently being powered by generators on both lower Washington and Highway 29 substation. If a PSPS occurs, homes and residences on the west side of the Napa River along Foothill Blvd./Highway 128 will be without power until possibly 10 p.m. Friday. Please read the following for details: Alert: Updated PSPS Outage Alert for Wednesday, October 14 through Friday, October 16 due to High Wind Warning PG&E has issued ...an updated PSPS Outage Alert for tomorrow, Oct. 14, 2020. ESTIMATED POWER SHUTOFF: Between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. PG&E expects weather to improve beginning at 6 a.m. Friday Oct. 16, 2020. After severe weather has passed, PG&E will inspect equipment before restoring power. ESTIMATED POWER RESTORATION: Friday Oct. 16, 10 p.m. Actual shutoff and restoration times may change depending on weather and equipment conditions. Please visit www.pge.com or pge.com/pspsupdates for additional information. It is the City’s understanding that PG&E will operate the generators at lower Washington during the PSPS event. Areas east of the Napa River located within the PIH service area will receive power and there should be little to no interruption to service. PG&E has confirmed that the substation generation will be turned off because it provides power to areas located in Tier 2 and 3 High Fire Hazard Areas which are not safe to energize during PSPS events. Areas west of the Napa River will not have power consistent with previous PSPS events. Please take the necessary steps to be prepared for this PSPS power outage. The Red Flag Warning issued beginning 5:00 AM Wednesday, October 14th through 11:00 AM Friday, October 16th remains in effect over much of interior Northern California including portions of Napa County and Calistoga. Extreme caution should be taken to prevent new fire starts. The Calistoga Community Center will be open as a cooling center on Thursday and Friday from 12 Noon-7:00 PM. Due to Covid19 distancing requirements space will be limited, and face coverings are required at all times. Please check in on your neighbors and remember Covid19 is still with us and requires everyone to do their part to keep it from spreading. Calistoga Tribune 12.08.2020

New Nixle!! Today In cooperation with state and local authorities the City’s evacuation order has been DOWNGRADED TO A WARNING, effective 3pm today. Residents are now able to return at their own risk. While a potential threat to the City remains, the threat is no longer imminent. Active fire remains in areas of northern Napa County near Calistoga and smoke is likely to be visible. As of this morning the Glass Fire was at 17% containment. All roadways within city limits are f...ree of debris and passable. However, in areas immediately surrounding the Calistoga city limits certain roadways are impassable and are likely to remain closed for several days until determined to be safe. When returning to Calistoga, please be aware that there are still large numbers of utility and emergency service vehicles on the roads. Please be considerate and use extreme caution when driving to your home or place of business. Police and fire personnel will continue patrolling town for safety and security. Available routes of travel into Calistoga at this time include: Highway 29 north to Calistoga, Petrified Forest Road, and Highway 128 south to Calistoga. Current road closures include: Highway 29/Lake County Highway south from Lake County to Tubbs Lane, and Silverado Trail between Dunaweal and Zinfandel. Please do not attempt to enter burn zones as hazardous conditions still exist. While air quality conditions are improving, they are still poor. Residents with sensitivities should take this into consideration. Conditions are forecasted to improve this week. There will be limitations to basic services (grocery store, hardware store, pharmacy, etc.) in the short term as they replenish stock and bring in staff. The US Postal Service is working to resume service in Calistoga as soon as possible. Regarding utilities within the city limits, public water and sewer are fully functional, and electrical service has been restored to most areas of the City. Electricity is currently being provided by the PIH on lower Washington and temporary generators installed at the substation off of Highway 29. Internet and phone service have also been restored, however cell phone coverage may be spotty. PG&E crews are available should you require assistance with your gas pilot light. There is a significant amount of ash cover throughout Calistoga. When returning to your property DO NOT use a leaf blower to attempt to remove the ash as it will contribute to unhealthy air quality conditions. When disposing of spoiled food, Upper Valley Waste Management is allowing all three bins (brown, green, blue) to be used for garbage service this week only. This means you will be able to use all three bins to dispose of food waste. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. The City is happy to welcome you home.
