Fly over the new Palmdale to Burbank section Preferred Alternative (PA) of SR14A in one of our latest animations. The modified PA will avoid Una Lake and will be underground through the community of Acton, and within the Angeles National Forest and the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. Three new modified build alternatives added have been added for a total of six alternatives to be included in the environmental review. Routes can reduce potential impacts to aquatic resources south of Palmdale. https://hsr.ca.gov/h/project_sections/palmdale_burbank.aspx

Keeping people and animals safe the high-speed rail corridor will be completely sealed off with fencing, walls and other intrusion barriers put into place to prevent potential hazards within urban environments. The rail corridor will be inaccessible except at a handful of limited locations where at-grade crossings may occur in NorCal and SoCal where the train will not be traveling at full speed. #FactFriday https://hsr.ca.gov/about/safety/intrusion_barriers.aspx

#FactFriday Money for high-speed rail comes from dedicated state and federal sources, not gas taxes. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009: $2.55B from the Federal Railroad Administration. $928.6 Million funding from Fiscal Year 2010. Cap and Trade Funds: A greenh...ouse gas reduction program authorized by state law in 2008 run by the California Air Resources Board. SB 862 authorizes continuous appropriation of 25% of auction proceeds from quarterly auctions go to the Authority. Rail Property Management Fund: Fund receives revenues from leases/rents collected on property acquired that is not yet delivered to the design-builders for construction EPA Brownfields: Funds for work with coalition partners to inventory, characterize, assess, and conduct cleanup planning and community involvement related activities for Brownfields sites around the Los Angeles Union Station area. https://hsr.ca.gov/about/capital_costs_funding/
