Dr. Eric Tao gave a lecture and workshop on "Business Communication for Non-Native Speakers" in the last CALMAT MiniMBA certificate program, sponsored by CASPA. The talk covers fundamentals of communications skills such as empathy with the audience, simplify the message, establish trust early, use both logic and emotions. The presentation also covers unique challenges for high-tech professional that are non-native speakers of English, such as pronunciation, culture differences, small talks, chairing meetings. Participants, many are executives from IC industries, practiced many of the skills during the session, including tongue twisters and discussion of sections of the movie "my fair lady." iDegree Programs announced! As a university of innovation, CALMAT is constantly looking for ways to provide the most effective education to help our students achieving their learning and career goals. CALMAT joins other trend setters such is MBA of University of Illinois and Coursera, Udacity to create the next generation of higher-ed programs - a socially-connected, internet-enhanced, challenge-based degrees in business administration, computer science and information technology. While the iDegree program official learning are conducted mostly online, there are optional bi-weekly face-to-face workshops offered in CALMAT Silicon Valley campus.
