California City Professional Firefighters 02.12.2020

On 11-21-2020 at 12:29AM the Emergency Communications Center received reports of a vehicle on fire next to a multi-family dwelling in the 8700 block of Xavier A...venue. During the initial report of the vehicle fire California City Medic Engine 19 was already assigned and on scene of a medical aid with Liberty Ambulance in a remote area near Silver Saddle Ranch. Medic Engine 19 cleared the medical aid and responded to the reported vehicle fire along with an assisting fire engine from the Kern County Fire Department. Medic Engine 19 arrived on scene of a pickup truck fully involved with fire next to a 3-unit multi-family dwelling. Firefighters extinguished the fire within minutes keeping the fire contained to the truck and away from the structure. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Currently CCFD, CCPD, Liberty Ambulance and CHP are on scene of a non-injury traffic collision on North Loop Boulevard and Hacienda boulevard that involved a sedan and school bus. Please drive with caution if in the area. North Loop is currently closed going east from Hacienda Boulevard.

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of Retired California City Fire Department Chief Michael Garcia. Chief Garcia serviced as the... California City Fire Department Chief from December 2010 to 2013. He also served in the military and as Cal Fire-California State Fire Training-Assistant Chief Southern Region (Ret). Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all the lives that this noble man impacted. Rest easy Chief Michael Garcia, thank you.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissue of the breast. The damage cells can in...vade surrounding tissues. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Breast Cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. Men are also affected at about 1/100 the rate of women. Outcomes for breast cancer vary depending on the cancer type, extent of disease, and person's age.
