California: NO on Prop 25 Do not surrender your Right to Bail in favor of a computer algorithm to determine your freedom. Do not surrender your Right to Bail i...n favor of a dragnet of probationary oversight before any conviction. Do not surrender your Right to Bail in favor of being monitored pretrial by the very government who seeks to prosecute you. Protect your Right to Bail.

Even Snoop Dogg says voters should say "NO THANKS" to Prop 25! It will lead to a more racially biased criminal justice system which is why the California NAACP, public defenders, defense attorneys and social justice advocates are voting NO on Prop 25. #StopProp25

Prop 25 is a veto referendum to stop SB10 (bail reform) from becoming law. Want to know how bail reform works? Look no further than New York where it was al...ready tried and failed. In fact, it only lasted 4 months after enactment (Jan thru Apr of 2020) before Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio previous advocates of bail reform had to REVERSE themselves and push a new bill to stop the damage. Just Google, "New York Bail Reform Disaster" . . Only three weeks after New York's bail reform was enacted, CNBC said, In what’s becoming an almost hourly stream of depressing updates, New York’s newspapers, local TV news shows, and news sites are posting story after story about violent crimes being committed by people instantly released after arrests because of bail reform. Making matters worse, some of the repeat offenders have been arrested for committing acts of anti-semitic assault and harassment just as New York is seeing a disturbing spike in those crimes " (Novak, Jake. New York’s bail reform disaster is about to become a major election issue. CNBC, 17 January 2020, retrieved from cnbc online) . We've had an experiment with "zero bail" in California during the COVID pandemic. We saw similar bad results suspects get arrested for a crime, are released within hours, and go on to commit the same crime again. . We don’t think the risk assessment algorithm described in SB10 makes California’s effort at bail reform any better. At its core, it is the END to cash bail that will have negative consequences. . TPOA says the concept of addressing financial inequities in the criminal justice system is a valid concern. But PROP 25 is not the answer. Prop. 25 will make "zero bail" permanent, which is why law enforcement throughout the state oppose it. . Vote No on Prop 25

California Bail Agents Association 06.09.2020

Election Day is only 35 days from now, but mail voting in California starts in less than a week. Proposition 25 the unfair, unsafe and costly ballot proposition will replace every Californian’s right to bail and replace it with computer-generated predictive modeling. That means an algorithm will decide who goes free and who stays in jail pending their trials. The No on Prop 25 campaign is educating voters through our diverse coalition of opponents, including civil rights... groups, crime victims’ advocates, law enforcement, budget experts, and retired judges. The campaign’s first television ad went on the air today. Please spread the word to your friends, neighbors and co-workers, and remember to VOTE NO ON PROP 25. Paid for by No on Prop 25 - Stop the Unfair, Unsafe and Costly Ballot Proposition, sponsored by the American Bail Coalition. Prop 25 is UNFAIR and BIASED. Even tech leaders like Google, Facebook and Amazon who use algorithms in their business have come out against their use to make determinations on risk assessment because they lead to more biased outcomes for poor and minority defendants. #StopProp25
