Yucaipa firefighters responded to the 13400 block of Oak Mountain Dr for a residential structure fire. The firefighters were able to confine the fire to a void space surrounding the fireplace and suppress the fire with minimal damage to the home. The fire did approximately 30K in damage and firefighters saved approximately 1.5M. Fires like theses can start because of burning wood in a gas fireplace. A good winter safety tip is to know what your fireplace is designed to burn and have it maintenance regularly. If your not sure, call a professional to have it inspected. #yucaipafiredepartment

The San Bernardino National Forest and eight others will remain closed with a new regional order issued today. "Continued closures are based on extreme fire con...ditions, critical limitations of firefighting resources, and to provide for firefighter and public safety, said Randy Moore, Regional Forester for the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region.
