California cattle ranchers congratulate Assemblymember Rob Bonta on being named California's first Filipino Attorney General. As a tireless advocate for justice for all Californians, we look forward to working with AG Bonta.
Today we are missing hosting our Steak & Eggs Legislative Breakfast (not just because it usually rains that day and rain would be nice ). We hope to be back passing out cowboy hats and in the halls of California's Capitol soon! In the meantime, if you've ever attended tag us in your photos!
We're biased to the ones in cowboy hats and boots but want to wish everyone a happy National Agriculture Day! #ResilientRanchers
Last week a meeting was held on the idea of forming a fire safe council for ranchers in California. CCA First Vice President Tony Toso participated in the meeting and shared some of CCA's prescribed fire priorities. Read about those priorities in this Western Livestock Journal article.

Californians remain closely divided on Proposition 15 as its proponents and opponents make their closing arguments to voters over the next few weeks, said Mark Baldassare, Public Policy Institute of California president and CEO. There are storm clouds on the horizon for livestock producers who utilize the Risk Management Agency’s (RMA) Pasture, Rangeland and Forage insurance program (PRF), according to CCA’s partners at AgRisk Advisors. Harmful adjustments to PRF are likely to be implemented unless RMA is flooded with comments from impacted producers. The good news is submitting comments is easily done at www.PRFadvisors.com/savePRF. Visit the site today to learn more, provide your input and help save PRF!
"As a rancher, I urge California voters to reject Prop 15 in November," CCA President Mark Lacey says. #NoOnProp15
People are still fighting to save their ranches, Kirk Wilbur, CCA Vice President of Government Affairs said. This is the most catastrophic year we’ve ever experienced, especially for those who rely on the forest for their livelihood.
All Californians will pay more under Prop 15. Family farmers are one of many industries that will pay higher property taxes which means higher grocery costs for families according to San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer
If Prop 15 passes, property taxes will increase on agricultural buildings and improvements, and nearly everything needed to move food from farm to fork. Learn more about why to vote #NoOnProp15 at DefeatProp15.com.
