Pain in pregnancy is NOT normal! I have had many conversations with birth workers, new moms, and especially my pregnant patients right now about what level of pain is normal in pregnancy. My answer: NONE! Is there some discomfort, uncomfortable and stretching that comes along with your body moving and expanding with your growing babe, YES. But, is true pain normal, NO. During this time that we are living in right now, I understand the caution of go...ing too many places and limiting your exposure to people who are not in your immediate household. However, I have noticed that this has especially been true for our soon-to-be and new mothers. One of my greatest passions is supporting families through their prenatal and postpartum care. This includes precautions taken in the office to make my patient feel comfortable coming into the office to be seen and evaluated to help them physically and emotionally through their pregnancies and postpartum. Please reach out to your local ICPA chiropractors and be seen if you are experiencing pain during your pregnancy because you can do something about it! I am certified through the ICPA in the Webster Technique. I love working with mamas to not only reduce the discomfort that they might be feeling but focusing on preparing their body and baby for the journey through labor, delivery, and postpartum. By detecting misalignments in the sacrum using the Webster Technique, we can affect the ligaments that attach the uterus to the bony structures around it. When the ligaments are all relaxed and not pulled tight on any one side or another, there is no pull on the uterus, allowing the baby to float and move to where he/she might want to go within the uterus. Babies have an inherent ability to move to where the optimal fetal position is. When we have a strain on a ligament in any one direction, it might pinch the uterus and decrease the amount of space that the baby has to move into this position. continued in comments
