As many of you may have heard, Jerry has been ill off and on these past few months. He is out of the hospital now and recovering at home. He has been worried the quarterly news letter has not been sent out to people and a few other things have fallen behind at the Museum. Taking things slower now he will be seeking more volunteers to take over many of the duties he has been doing. If you find you can assist him and help at the Museum in a few weeks, please call the Museum and leave a message or talk to one of the Board members. We have many projects that can be done from home. Thank you.
If you're a golfer and interested in supporting a great organization, join us on October 8th for our Second Annual Golf Tournament. All proceeds go to the maintenance and growth of the California Wildland Firefighter Memorial, Inc. www.cwfm.info

Please pray for my Dad, George Pond. Sadly he had a bad fall at home not too long ago and was hospitalized. While being treated for his physical injuries, it ...was determined my Dad is suffering from the effects of dementia. My sister Carmen and i are doing the best we can during this difficult situation. As some of you know, my Dad is a retired Battalion Chief from CAL FIRE San Bernardino Unit and was one of the original founding directors of the museum. He worked all over the state during his career and had dedicated his entire adult life to fire-fighting. My Dad has good days and bad days. Carmen and I have gotten a few calls from concerned friends. Just know we are very involved in his care and have his best interests at heart. He is being taken very good care of. If you would like to talk please contact me via Facebook messenger if you like and my contact information is also provided below. Thank you and God Bless. Chris Pond 7840 Hickory Meadow Rd. Subject: Fw: UPDATED-LNU Employees Relief Fund- PLEASE DISTRIBUTE Don't know if any of you folks got this I do not recognize any of the names except Kenny Leuzi...nger. So sad.............Ed I’m sure someone already has, but could you spread out through any mailing lists you may have?....this is too horrible to believeL Importance: High LNU, As many of you have heard a number of our employees have lost their homes and all of their belongings in the Valley and Butte Fires. At this point here is what we know: Battalion Chief Paul Duncan and Communications Operator Courtney Duncan lost their home in Hidden Valley Fire Captain Justin Galvan lost his home in Middletown FF Matt Maxwell lost his home in Middletown FF Dave Watkins lost his home in Hidden Valley FF Robert Hamblin-Taylor lost his home on Cobb FF Kyle Catto lost his home in Mokelumne Hill to the Butte Fire FAE Steve Cherry lost his home in Middletown Retired HFEO Ken Leuzinger lost his home in Middletown We have worked with the Forestry Crabfeed to set up a fund to help all of these employees. For those wishing to donate you can mail checks to the following- Forestry Crabfeed FF Relief Fund 2210 West College Ave Santa Rosa, Ca 95401 Attn: Olga Leitch 100% of the money collected will be given directly to the employees. In addition the Forestry Crabfeed, which was established as a benevolent fund to assist the employees in the Sonoma Lake Napa Unit, is a non-profit 501c3 so your donation is tax deductible, tax payer ID 45-3748304. We will be working to find other means of collecting money and physical items and donations for our employees and hope to have information out about that as we can put that together. We recognize that there are easier means with online fundraising sites like Go Fund Me but those companies take a chunk of the money donated (like 8%) and utilizing the Forestry Crabfeed provides 100% of the money directly to the employees and provides the person donating a tax deduction. If you have other ideas about how we can provide financial support to all of these employees please do not hesitate to give me a call. Please distribute as you see fit.
