Join us for a webinar regarding the Muslim Ban Repeal in Farsi!
We welcome the news. We were very refreshed to hear language coming out of the White House that was not targeting Muslims and Africans around the world ... After four years of very tough news and bad news around every corner, it’s been an optimistic moment for advocates and community members around the nation. The Sacramento Bee

The California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) also lauded Khan’s appointment as historic. We thank Speaker Rendon for this historic appointment and for demonstrating your dedication to an inclusive California for all, Basim Elkarra, executive director of CAIR-Sacramento Valley, said in a statement last week. Thousands of Californians have benefitted from Imam Yasir Khan’s chaplaincy and social service efforts over the years, and to see him at the Capitol will inspire so many.
"This appointment sends a message of inclusion - that American Muslims are an integral part of our society. Despite all the hate Muslims have faced during four years under Trump's administration, our community is resilient and continues to help and play critical roles in all aspects of society."
We are extremely excited to announce the historic appointment of Imam Yasir Khan as the first-ever Muslim Chaplain at the State of California Assembly for the 2021-2022 session! Imam Yasir is currently the President of the Council of Sacramento Valley Islamic Organization, the founder of @almisbaah , and chaplain at the San Joaquin County Jail and Lodi Memorial Hospital. We look forward to all the amazing work to come from him in this upcoming year!
This is great news for our immigrant communities!

"Today, we celebrate the historic election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The past four years have been a constant battle against the Trump administration's cruel and inhumane policies targeting marginalized communities. There is so much critical work ahead of us, from ending the Muslim Ban to reuniting families to fighting for racial justice. We look forward to coming together to repair the damage that has been done, ensuring the Biden administration upholds its campaign promises and creating a brighter future for all."

Thank you to The Fresno Bee and The Sacramento Bee for covering the CAIR California Campus Climate Report which sheds light on Islamophobia on college campuses! CAIR Sacramento Valley/Central California believes in the importance of sharing our stories and urges educational institutions to implement these recommendations which help create more inclusive and safe learning environments! "About 40% of students who took the survey said they did not feel comfortable expressing th...eir opinions in the classroom, and 34% said they were subjected to bigoted comments about Islam from their professors or instructors. Most harassment about 74% came in the verbal or written form and included name-calling, remarks, gestures, comments in the classroom, and derogatory emails, texts, or social media posts. About 7% were physically harassed with violence, unwanted contact, pulling or tugging on their religious attire, or property damage, according to the report."
