A couple uncommon facts about skin: 1. All skin types have similar amounts of the cell that produce pigment - melanocytes. However, darker skin types have more melanin and have it more evenly distributed across their skin. 2. Your skin is not only the largest organ of the body but it is also the largest IMMUNOLOGIC organ in the body. It is a crucial part of the immune system.

For some, #hyperhidrosis (or excessive sweating) is contained to the underarms. But that is not the case for everyone. Others experience sweating on their hands, face, feet, scalp...you can really experience sweat on any part of your body! If this sounds like you, know you are not alone. Many individuals live with full body sweating.

Committing to a simple nighttime skin care routine can have major benefits for your skin! If you are short on time or new to skincare, start by following these 4 steps: 1. GENTLE CLEANSER: Start with makeup remover wipes if you wear makeup. Then use a gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip all of the oils off of your skin. How do you know if your cleanser is too harsh? If it is too harsh, your skin will feel tight and dry after use or may even sting a bit. Instead, look for a was...h that makes your skin feel soft and supple! One word of caution if you are using a prescription strength retinoid like tretinoin, Renova or tazarotene then your skin may sting and be a bit red after washing, at least until your skin becomes used to the retinoid. 2. SERUM: Pick a serum that targets what you want - hyperpigmentation, fewer fine lines, brighter skin, etc. 3. UNDER EYE CREAM: The skin under the eye is delicate. That is why creams are often specifically designed for this area. 4. LIPS: A simple lip balm is all that’s needed to keep lips moisturized overnight. To save a little money, pick ONE lip balm that has sunscreen in it (many do NOT) and use the same one in the morning AND in the evening. Using sunscreen at night will not cause any problems. To save EVEN MORE money, use simple petrolatum (Vaseline) on your lips at night. Stay tuned to hear about some of my favorite, easy to find products to take care of your skin.

MYTH BUSTED: Wearing a hat does NOT cause male pattern hair loss. Hair follicles in certain parts of a man’s head are sensitive to male hormones and become miniaturized (not killed or dead) when exposed to male hormones over time. Some men have follicles that are more sensitive than other men. Thus, we see hair loss for some but not all.
