"After more than two decades as executive director of the California Catholic Conference, I thank God for the privilege of allowing me to play a part in brining #Catholicvalues to the #publicsquare." Read more from Ned Dolejsi on celebrating #50years of ministry: https://buff.ly/3rZyyEm

The center of Catholic social teaching is respect for life and dignity of every human. Our nation also cherishes a deep commitment to religious freedom-parameters which are defined for our modern world within the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). The currently proposed Equality Act specifically nullifies the (RFRA) and threatens to punish faith-based ministries. Please urge Congress to oppose the Equality Act. Society needs to balance rights, not eliminate them. https://buff.ly/3c0Ocd2
#AssistedSuicide is already legal in California, and the proposed #SB380, #EndofLifeOptionAct, attempts to remove many "safeguards." Please help to stop this attempt at harming human dignity and worth. https://buff.ly/3vCdVjX

Today is the annual day of prayer and awareness against human trafficking, and the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita. St. Bakhita was kidnapped as a child and sold into slavery in Sudan and Italy. Once Josephine was freed, she became a Canossian nun and dedicated her life to sharing her testament of deliverance from slavery and comforting the poor and suffering. There are an estimated 40.3 million victims of modern-day slavery worldwide, and cases are rising since the COVID-19 pandemic. Catholics all over the world are encouraged to reflect on the experiences of those that have suffered through this affront to human dignity, but also comfort, strengthen, and help empower survivors. Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ of Diocese of Oakland, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops chairman on Catholic Education applauded the introduction of H. Res. 66 and S. Res. 33, Supporting the Contributions of Catholic Schools. Bishop Barber stated: Catholic schools are a unique gift to the nation. We honor the dignity of every child through an integral formation that includes academic excellence, but with an equal focus on heart, mind, and soul. This is a preparation not only for college and career, but for heaven itself. This commitment was on full display in the past year as Catholic schools excelled during the COVID pandemic." #CatholicSchools #SupportCatholicEducation
