What a year it has been! As the end of 2020 approaches, we give thanks to our higher education leaders, colleagues, community partners, and especially, our students. Their resilience, flexibility, determination, and creativity have been amazing. Our Community Engagement Student Fellows (CESF) provided hundreds of hours of service to thousands of Californians in their communities throughout this pandemic. They registered hundreds of students to vote and mentored and tutor...ed students online all while transitioning to online courses. To show our gratitude, we are attempting to raise $5,000 in scholarship funds to support 10 new students in the coming year through our CESF program. Please consider donating any amount that you are able. Your contribution goes directly to the student so that they can continue to make a difference in their communities. Check out this short video of University of San Francisco student Amaya Fox, and hear directly from her about her experience and her impact on her campus and community: https://youtu.be/PCfFkIhLhbg We are thankful for CESF students like Amaya. In these difficult times, their passion and commitment give us hope that they will develop a lifetime of service beyond our program to make the world a better place. We are also grateful for donors like you: thank you for supporting these incredible students and for supporting our work. We wish you and your loved ones a very peaceful and happy Thanksgiving! Our Community Engagement Student Fellowship - Youth Voice, Youth Vote is a powerful program for our student leaders to make a difference in their communities during this election year. Selected students focus their service on some aspect of voter engagement (ie, voter registration, voter education, youth-centered candidate forums) and youth voice (finding out what young people care about; providing opportunities for young people to be heard on issues, etc). As part of their ...fellowship, CSU Sacramento students Griselda Camacho and Janneth Gil Magana created and produced a short video about voter suppression for Civic Life Project's Democracy 2020 Youth Film Challenge. We feel this theme is relevant in preparation for the Presidential Election in November, as well as recent events. Please view their video, entitled "A Threat to Our Democracy," below, VOTE and share! Congratulations Griselda and Janneth!

We’re looking forward to December 3rd - this year’s GivingTuesday! GivingTuesday is a national movement that harnesses the generosity of millions of people around the world to support the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. We believe the movement will become the first global day of giving and a year-round platform for strengthening civil society. California Campus Compact has joined this incredible movement and will be participating in this year's... #GivingTuesday! Founded in 2012, GivingTuesday has inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. Over $400 million was raised online in 2018 to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness. Stay tuned to learn more so that you can make a powerful difference!
