Please see below how you can help By The Sea Productions survive COVID-19. We can't wait to see all of our actors, tech, directors, and patrons as soon as it is safe to do so. Please consider donating to help us cover the costs listed below. Fortunately, our props, set pieces, and electrical equipment are stored in various board members’ garages. However, we rent two storage units in Morro Bay for our furniture and costumes, and we continue to pay our venue rent, which the c...hurch has graciously reduced by half. Without income, our savings will only last for a few more months, so we are seeking donations and/or sponsors to help us cover these costs: Venue rent: $200/month Furniture storage unit rent: $215/month Costume storage unit rent: $180/month Total monthly expenses: $595. With your help, we can keep theatre alive in Morro Bay for many years to come! Thank you for your support. Donations accepted at www.bytheseaproductions.org, on this post, or straight to PO Box 2032 Morro Bay CA 93442

Written by our Janice a few years back - we hope to be backstage again soon! BACKSTAGE Ah, the theater, the magic it brings... Giving us moments where imagination takes wings Drama and pathos, mystery and suspense Comedy, laughter, music and dance All out there on stage for the audience to see But that’s not the best part of theater for me. I love the auditions, the thrill when you’re cast And then the rehearsals, learning lines fast Sing the songs in your car, practice dance steps at lunch Then feel like a klutz when you try both at once! The new friends who become family for the run of the show Then hell weekalready? Where did the time go? Am I sure of my lines? Are my costumes OK? Should I play that one scene in a different way? Is my character complete, will she seem real? Will I make the audience feel what I feel? Then it’s opening night and you wait in the dark Your excitement measured by the beat of your heart Places everyone, break a leg (not good luck) The creation’s complete, and now, curtain up! Step onto the stage, play the scene, do your bit The audience likes us, thank God, we’re a hit Look forward to weekends all through the run Spending time in the green room telling jokes, having fun And just when you get every nuance just right The show’s run is over, and it’s closing night And after the curtain call, the hugs and the tears The cast party gifts and program souvenirs The family dissolves, separate ways we all go With one last I love you, and see you next show!

Please enjoy this video from our very own Rick Bruce! You may recognize him as the Village Wizard of Cambria, from our stage at By The Sea Productions, and formerly from the Pewter Plough. Here he is performing The Ballad of the Harp Weaver by Edna St. Vincent Millay. Thank you for watching! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch... www.bytheseaproductions.org

Have you ever wondered about the board members of BTSP? Who ARE they, really? (And if you haven't, you should, because we're some fun people). We're finally here to answer all of your burning questions about the people behind the scenes who keep By The Sea Productions going. Welcome to our final portion of our Meet The Board Members series! Today, we introduce Sarah Smith. We sent her some questions, here's what she has to say! ' ? I... teach tiny humans to be kind! I’m a preschool teacher. I spend time with my boyfriend and I like to go to the beach with my friends. I used to go to Disneyland monthly pre-COVID. And before we shut down, I was also rehearsing for an original musical at CCAT called Cambria the Musical. ' ' ? So many! Little Shop of Horrors and Something’s Afoot at CCAT, and And Then There Were None and Murder Room at BTSP. ( )? I’ve been involved with theatre since I was in middle school. I acted with BTSP during their last show as the Pewter Plough Players in Clue the Musical in 2016, and I’ve been acting with them ever since. I became a board member about a year and a half ago. ? Still teaching tiny humans to be kind (and also how to wash their hands and not cough all over everything). I was also a producer and actor in the webseries I’d Kill For a Date. I started making soap, and I try to play virtual games with my friends at least once a week. ’ ? The stories I get to tell and the characters I get to become and connect with, and the people! Most of my favorite people came into my life because of theatre. ? I was in middle school and watching the high school kids perform and decided I wanted to do that too! ? I’ve been lucky enough to play a few of my dream roles! Audrey in Little Shop, and Vera Claythorne in And Then There Were None. Also on my bucket list is Roxie Hart in Chicago, and lots of others , ? Usually talking to my cast mates, drinking water, and eating a snack. ’ ? I have a weird little ritual I do - most of it is sacred to me and hard to explain. Other than that, I shake out my hands, roll my shoulders back into whatever posture my character has, bring my head up, and head out on stage. ? Be kind. Wash your hands. Watch I’d Kill For a Date (please www.idkillforadate.com). www.bytheseaproductions.org

This week's quote is from our 2019 production of Silent Sky, chosen by Rhonda. We don't know when theatres will reopen. But we have something in the works for whenever we do, and we hope that you'll be able to come back into our theatre and Come Laugh With Us. We can't wait to see you again. Keep laughing.

Have you ever wondered about the board members of BTSP? Who ARE they, really? We're finally here to answer all of your burning questions about the people behind the scenes who keep By The Sea Productions going. Welcome to our Meet The Board Members series! Today, we'll start with our fearless leader, President of the board for her second year, Rhonda Crowfoot. We sent her some questions, here's what she has to say! ' ?... I work at the library in San Luis Obispo, walk my dog Tucker, run for exercise and hang out with my husband, Keith. ' ' ? Each show has had their own favorite parts. ( )? My first role was when I was in 5th grade. I played the Mock Turtle in Alice in Wonderland and I’ve been hooked ever since. I got into the tech stuff in high school and even made my living as a Theater Technician for a year. Or, as I like to say, I starved for my art for a while! I read about BTSP in the Tribune and went over to volunteer. I started by showing people where and how to park in the lot. ? We’ve started making candles. (Not very well, but we like them.) I like to read and we’ve done a few puzzles. I’ve gotten hooked on the Great British Baking Show, which I hadn’t watched before. ’ ? The people. ? Teachers. ? I am not a director. I don’t know about a specific role as there are so many out there with more being written every day. Maybe I should say my favorite role will be the next role I get! , ? Going over lines, of course. Or playing cribbage on my phone, if I don’t have lines. ’ ? Shake out my hands, arms and shoulders to relax them and take a deep breath. ? I hope to see you all once we can get back to the theater.

We have been reminiscing about past shows while we are looking forward to our next shows, whenever they may be. Here’s a quote that really resonates in these times chosen by our Vice President, Janice. www.bytheseaproductions.org to donate
